This is how I would have liked Obama to answer McCain's jab that "I am not President Bush."

"But you are a Republican."

 McCain keeps trying to wear the mantle of change. He keeps talking about being a maverick. But he is a Republican. He is taking money and support from the RNC. He got to have that big speech at the end of the Republican Convention. He supports the Republican platform.

 No, McCain. You are not Bush. But neither did you choose to run as an Independent, or to start your own party--the Maverick Party.

 You are a Republican.

 Own it.
