Three Reasons to Elect Barack Obama

Three reasons we need a change in the White House:

1.  It is not possible for the party that created the mess to clean it up. If it were, then the USSR would not have had such a hard time achieving something like (although not much like) a free market economy. The people who had created the mess couldn't do it; they didn't know how. Just so, the Republicans who tore down the regulations that kept Wall Street greed in check are hardly likely to re-erect effective and sensible regulations. Think of it this way: Fox in henhouse.

2.  If we don't leave No Child Left Behind behind us pretty soon, no one will be able to read, never mind think. Of course, that may be exactly what the Born Again Fascists want. Don't take my word for it, though. Ask a teacher. Google it. See if today's kids like school even less than you did. Spending time prepping for tests, like a well-dressed parrot, is not being educated. It is a recipe for failure, of thinking, doing and ultimately being. It is a recipe for disaster in less than a generation.

3.   The nation...and I'm very pointedly talking about that "real America" Sarah Palin is so fond of cuddling up to...needs to get over its greed and stinginess. I read a blog this morning in which the blogger asked, "What's wrong with spreading the wealth around a bit, as Obama wants to do?" Answer: nothing. Unless, of course, you are greedy. If you cannot see that depriving inner city children of basic necessities is harmful to the entire society, of which you are a part, then you've never seen a spider web, a bee hive or a herd of horses. Even horses look out for the weaker and older among them. Horses.  Animals that are more wild than tame, more independent than cooperative.  Barack Obama wants no more than that, for us to begin to be a respectable and generous nation again, take care of our own, maybe welcome a few deserving strangers, and live not by the rule of the jungle (as we have been doing in our exported wars), but by the Golden Rule.  No more, no less.
