If we could convince a group of people to do the same, do you think he would get a clue about how people really feel about him and his screw ups or would he continue to think that everyone was seeking attention ( his reasoning for the Iraqi reporter throwing the shoe at him )? ? ? ? ?
I love the idea too. But bush would just think we were all looking for attention!
Seriously, this is an idea whose time has come!
Remember how we all gave money to planned parenthood in Sarah Palin's name? Can't cost much to mail old shoes.
We just need the address. I think it would be more fun to mail all the shoes to his new home in Dallas!
Good plan! I've also heard suggestions that people chuck their Chucks over the White House fence on Jan. 19th. I think that could make for some awkward interactions with the secret service, but a girl can dream...
Demosaur -- I'm all for your idea of drive-by shoeing, but you're right about the WH Secret Service.
So, maybe instead of the WH, we could place a million shoes on the Mall? A sea of shoes running from the Washington Monument to the Capital steps?
What would it take? Designating a weekend between now and then, getting a permit, advertising... it shouldn't be too difficult logistically. No traffic jams -- just people walking, carrying a pair of shoes to leave behind.
The visual impact would be powerful, symbolizing not only W's guilt, but also the cowardice of Congress. Not to mention our own in failing to show up, in person, to protest the outrages of the past eight years.
Now there's a national memorial, however fleeting, we can believe in.
Who lives in Washington who is willing to get the permit?
Given the comments about shoes all over TPM, I think the throwing shoe idea is one that will dog W for the rest of his days.
I know that my next vacation plans to Dallas will require a Uhaul trailer. My wife has agreed to clean out her closet then. Imelda Marcos has nothing on my wife.
This is a great idea.
