Conservatives risk being jailed, tortured
There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the "Conservative Problem." Don't dismiss it as unrealistic.
America isn't the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn't mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:
Officers swear to "defend the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Unlike enlisted personnel, they do not swear to "obey the orders of the president of the United States."| Top military officers can see that the United States has been sold out by Conservatives who have given away American institutions and enterprises in pursuit of more money for their corporate benefactors. They can see that Americans are increasingly alarmed that this nation, with Conservatives still allowed to walk around freely and espouse their treasonous ideologies, may not even be recognizable as America by the 2012 election. They can see that the U.S. economy - ravaged by deficits, taxes, unemployment, and impending inflation all created by Conservative ideologies - has become a "petty cash" reserve for Conservatives and the corporations that give them enough money. They can see these Conservatives waging undeclared war against the American people. They saw Conservatives mock 9/11 victims and Hurricane Katrina victims. They can see the vitriol Conservatives have against the American people each day in the fight to reform health care. They See Conservatives are loyal only to their corporate benefactors, and not the United States. They can see the endless treasonous comments from Conservatives, and realize that Conservatives have no interest in "We the People." They can see that Conservatives only cater to the rich, regardless of nationality. They can see Conservative leaders kissing up to nations like China, while people in their own nation are dependent on the charity of others for a semblance of health care.
In the end, America's military will see that they have no choice but to round up Conservatives, jail them, and torture them. Because while the American military does not condone torture, Conservatives do. And yes, many Conservatives will accidentally be tortured to death. But they long ago agreed that this was fair.
Please don't get me wrong - I'm not advocating that the U.S. military jails and tortures greedy Conservatives and their self-serving corporate benefactors, smashing them until their minds and wills are broken so that the United States can finally catch up to the rest of the civilized world. No, I'm not advocating that at all.
I'm just sayin'.

"I'm just sayin'."??? Could you complete that sentence? It's not clear to me what exactly you're saying.

LOL. I can imagine you sputtering like Limbaugh right now. You know, maybe you should be glad this country was "liberalized" or what the fuck ever. Several decades ago, whoever wrote that Newsmax article would had been thrown in jail. Aren't you glad Obama is such a softy?

Sputtering? Hardly. I realize the post was written as a joke. I just wasn't sure exactly what WKW's point was in writing it.

Come on bill, surely you know this was a parody of John Perry's article, almost word for word. If you're upset about this parody shouldn't you be even more upset about the Perry piece which wasn't written in jest?

I'm not upset - just wondering what the point is. I had not seen the Perry article so can't really comment on it

The point was to parody a conservative piece by Perry which he wrote in all seriousness. It began thusly:
"There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America's military will intervene as a last resort to resolve the Obama problem. Don't dismiss it as unrealistic.
America isn't the Third World. If a military coup does occur here it will be civilized. That it has never happened doesn't mean it wont. Describing what may be afoot is not to advocate it. So, view the following through military eyes:"
I wouldn't expect you to read every post here, I don't. But I do think if you're going to post a comment on a blog you really should check out at least briefly the links in it. If you had you wouldn't have had to ask what the point was.

Well, I think we ought to toss No Class Bullshitter into a jail all his own. And none of those damned cushy American ones he'd probably complain about as being too soft on criminals. No, send him to someplace like Bagram.
Because he clearly agrees with the treason Newsmax put up. And if he had the sense to look up the possible prescribed penalty for treason, he'd see he was getting off easy.
Let him and his like-minded traitors and fellow fascists rot for all eternity behind slimy foreign bars.

Yes, it will help, but only with French pretend girls.

Great parody.
Only problem is, this isn't funny.
Today it was the advocacy of a coup, a couple of days ago it was a Facebook poll asking if Obama should be killed or not.
You have Christian extremists preaching as to why they "hate" Barack Obama and telling their congregations they should pray for the prez to die.
You've wingnuts showing up armed at presidential events.
And you have right wing whack jobs in the media and politics who are enaging in the kind of dehumanizing, derogatory, and demonizing rhetoric about Obama that is, I have no doubt, fueling the flames of some right wing, racist, ignorant, Christian extremist whacko who will firmly believe he's been chosen by God to "resolve" the Obama issue if Newsmax's military doesn't do it first.
God forbid something happens to Presdent Obama, but if it does I will be screaming at the top of my lungs that idiots like Glenn Beck, Sean Hanity, and Rush Limbaugh in the media, and back bencher congressfools like Michelle Bachmann, Joe Wilson, and Trent Franks have blood on their hands just as whoever acts out violently against the president does.
Just this saturday, at the overwhelmingy white, Bible thumping, right wing GOP "Take Back America" conference in St' Louis, Congressman Franks, R-Arizona, revved up the red meat, Obama hating base by describing the president as "insane", "godless" and an "enemy of humanity".
these idiots are coming perilously close to the incitement of violence against the president.
All I can say is, if anything should happen to Obama, what little is left of any semblance of a "united" United States of America will, along with every major city in the country, go up in smoke.
Sorry I rambled, but read Tom Freidman's piece in the Times today, and you'll know why I am fired up
These people need to be called out, and called hard, for the dangerous game of political chicken they are playing

At least that's what the Man of Steele sez.

With all the information that has come out since 9/11 and the advent of the Iraq war it is more than clear that Bush / Cheney based their decisions upon ambiguous data that in no way supported those decisions. It is also quite clear that with the U.N. inspectors having told the world that Iraq had no WMD and had nothing to do with 9/11 that Bush / Cheney further obfuscated known facts. The full list of legal and ethical violations isn't even fully known.
In light of these things the very least that should have been and still needs to be done is both need to be in jail for the remainder of their natural lives. I suspect though that the scope of their crime, were it to be litigated, as it properly should be, would demand the ultimate penalty.
This is not the Constitutional or legal responsibility of general officers or the military.
There are issues at hand though that are worthy of examination. The general officers who carried out the orders of the WH had to have been aware of the ambiguities but chose to fulfill the order. Their responsibilities to the nation should have directed them to examine the order and refuse to obey it. Given the circumstances, the order was not lawful and they had to have known that. There was just no way to commit to war against a sovereign state under those conditions of uncertainty. In theory and as a pratical matter the U.S. was required to have irrefutable proof to substantiate the action. That irrefutable proof was absent. Both the WH and the U.S. military were aware of this absence of irrefutable proof.

Ah, William, what a sweet fantasy. Are you taking your soma? Good.
Actually, we don't have to resort to the base tactics advocated and willfully used by conservatives. Just proceed in a methodical round-up of all the greed-heads, crazies and fundamentalists and relocate them to Texas. Let Texas secede from the United States and just leave these folks to their own devices. I suspect, in time, they will torture each other.
Sweet dreams...
