Glenn Beck: Death Becomes Him
A while back, Glenn Beck of Fox News had this to say:
"You know, how can we live in a country that can't debate things anymore? We're going to disagree. But we don't have to be disagreeable about it. Let's not threaten to kill each other."
With this in mind, I present to you my newest Blog Study: "Glenn Beck: Death Becomes Him"

- "These bloodsucker vampires are not going to be satisfied with just sucking the blood out of GM's top guy, the AIG executives, or any other business, or business person. Their thirst for power and control is unquenchable. They will not stop. There's only two ways for this movie to end. Either the economy becomes like the walking dead, or you drive a stake through the heart of the bloodsuckers.
- "I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"
- "Oh, my good God. Danny -- will you kill yourself [after] four years of that? I agreed with everything she just said, but I just want to kill myself."
- "Well, I agree with everything in the national anthem, but I almost blew my brains out when Roseanne Barr sang it."
- "Political correctness is going to kill us."
- "We could be on the verge of a global religious civil war."
- In fact, I'll bet you that I could get more coherent, more well-reasoned letters from people who believe this guy should be castrated with a pickle fork than I do from apologists.
- "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9/11 victims.... And that's all we're hearing about, are the people in New Orleans. Those are the only ones we're seeing on television are the scumbags."
- "If we don't kill terrorists faster than they kill us, it is going to mean the end of our civilization."
- "I mean, we don't have to worry about, you know, the millions of babies that are unborn that are going to be killed in the next ten years, because a lot of us will be dead from the global caliphate if we don't act on that."

- "If terrorists are seeking refuge in a mosque, you know what? Blow up the mosque."
- "I believe there is a cancer that is radicalized Islam, and it must be cut out or it's going to kill all of us."
- "(mimes loading a gun after creating a pedophile character) Bullet. Nice tight grouping right here (holds hands to his chest). ... We'll shoot him in the head so they die quickly."
- "Every night I get down on my knees and pray that Dennis Kucinich will burst into flames."

- "President Obama, why don't you just set us on fire?"
- "Polar Bears, I'm going to have to shoot them in the head."
- "[t]he Middle East is being overrun by 10th-century barbarians ... [i]f they take over ... we're going to have to nuke the whole place."
- "Ask for it by name, my name, President Tom. Buy it or I will kill you."
- "[It's] the rape of a sacred memory."
- "If you're stealing anything from my house, I don`t care if it's a feather pillow ... I have a right to shoot you. I not only have a right to carry a gun, if you threaten me, you have a right to carry my bullets, in a nice tight pattern, right here (points to chest)."
- "If it wasn't for my good wife, all of my neighbors would be dead."

We now return to Glenn Beck: Death Becomes Him:
- "We can feel good that we killed not just somebody, but we killed somebody evil."
- "if this country starts to spiral out of control and, you know, and Mexico melts down or whatever, if it really starts to spiral out of control. ... Americans will, they just, they won't stand for it. There will be parts of the country that will rise up."
- "the Second Amendment is under fire."
Bonus: Glenn Beck: Racism Becomes Him
- "Racist is a word that I find very offensive."

I think he wishes he was Limbaugh and it's pretty sad when you find yourself ranking lower than that guy. Nothin' to live for.

I look at him as an psycho-asset. Let him do his thing with Palin cheerleading, sponsored by the best in male enhancement drugs.

Beck is a true Republican, they think they can do or say anything, while telling you, or using the government, to run your life.

Beck is not a true republican. Very few modern republicans on the national stage can claim that distinction.
I find a lack of appreciation for "true republican" ideals to be kind of ironic from self-proclaimed liberals. The great majority of the modern democratic party's platform came from the minds and leadership of the first republican leaders.
Reminding right-leaning moderates of the link they have with the country's progressive roots is a much more effective tactic than labeling every wacky fringe asshole as being representative of "true republicans" and what they believe.

He actually seems pretty lame. None of the "feminazi" or "amen corner" rhetorical creativity in his speech. Just a lot of monkey spew.

Brilliant idea you put together here Wolf, tying Beck, his sponsors, and his mad death chants together.
Really exposes Becks sponsors and his supporters and leaves them all with no choice but to wear the death mask with him or walk away.

I don't watch Beck, so all these quotes were "news" to me.
This bastard is sick. But....because I'm a nice lil Liberal, I won't wish him dead.
Too bad he'd never give me the same consideration.

Perhaps, but remind us of what those links are?

I'll take a stab at linking up contemptorary liberal initiatives to Republican roots:
Teddy Roosevelt was a trust buster and an environmental preservationist.
Thus, while he must have valued competition, he also valued a) a more level playing field for competitors, and b) protecting our nation's resources (one can argue even those resources that aren't immediately able to be priced, but with are invaluable rather than without worth).
Ergo - health care reform that corrects costs that are driven up by market-fixing by a few gigantic companies working in concert, and that preserves the health of our country's citizenry (and workforce) - is pretty closely tied to the Progressivist tendencies of TR.
One might even say that, in the same way that TR established national parks run by the govt to make sure preserving the natural beauty was not second to profit, the same sort of nationalization of care would be right in line.
It's sort of the same reasoning behind some right-wing advocates' support for public libraries and schools - so we have a literate workforce and citizenry.

Now now . . .
He's Bull Moose Party 2.0. Yup! Thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt. Ya' have to admit that's better than him thinking he's Napoleon.

Here's the problem with Glenn Beck:
He laces a touch of sane, rational thought through periods of utter lunacy.
When people point out the lunacy, he says he was taken out of context, because they left out the sane bits.
His viewers that are sane focus on the sane bits, and dismiss the crazy talk as 'jokes'.
His viewers that are 'loons' (ala O'reilly) focus on the crazy bits. And one of them is going to cause some real trouble.

It is just amazing to me that he gets to stay on the air.
Uneducated.
Ill read.
Lousy speaker.
And he gives a new definition to Politically Correct.
I think you missed the follow-up on Michael Moore. He said that he would 'pay for the bullet' that killed the bastard.
That is a felony. It really is.
When I saw that Wallmart ad they kept running here at this site, I smiled. The ad lambasted this fascist, racist demagogue.
Wallmart for chrissakes.
