Man In The Mirror Is A Dad
So why did it have to be this way. I mean I'm not trying to take anything from who Michael Jackson was on stage. Clearly; when looking at the entire Michael Jackson musical and performing portfolio you have to say that it rates only with things like Ted Williams hitting 400 in baseball; in other words it's not going to happen again. I don't think any personality , in any genre , is going to be able to achieve the level of Michael Jackson's eighties. I just truly whish that he hadn't been a child molester.
Michael Jackson forsook most to all other things to be the star he was for the short time he did it. By that I mean when you compare his stage life to whatever else he did aside from that I don't think much comparison is merited. My opinion is that beyond the very eclectic and magnificent and captivating entertainer Michael Jackson was on stage I don't think he was that way off stage. Not at all.
It happened to me when I was watching one of the great Michael Jackson videos from the eighties. Michael was sitting on the floor singing a love song to a beautiful young women. And then I just blurted out , in front of my daughter and my wife , "Why doesn't he have who he really would want in the video"? See what I mean the video wouldn't be the same if he had a little boy in it would it? Michael Jackson was great. So would we think our great clergy was still great after he did child molestation?
I couldn't forgive Muhammad Ali if he crossed the line like Michael did. And my heart would be broke , big time. In Michael's case it's just down right disappointing that the greatest stage performer of all time had to be that way. So I guess when we "look in the mirror" this weekend after having followed the Michael Jackson remembrances we can just say cool , no problem , making great videos trumps the rest.
I'm a Dad and I can't afford to just go along with stuff and not say anything when I feel responsible to. So would any of you Dad's or Mom's out there , who enjoy the heck out of Jocko's videos , have let your little ones go over to Never Land? See what I mean it's sometimes hard to separate one from the other. So I sometimes find myself acknowledging that Michael was who he was; and the other does fuck up my enjoyment of his music sometimes.
It's something like the epitome of irony to have someone go so right while , at the same time , going so wrong. It had to be such a burden to reconcile ones self with. It's usually always a struggle to come to grips with one's crime. And it's a particular struggle , I think , when it's crimes against children. And I think it was for Michael Jackson.
Let me just be brief in my conclusions. Michael Jackson loved performing , spending money , and little boys; that's it. And in the end he couldn't do either of the three anymore and he couldn't handle that. I think Michael Jackson just CHECKED OUT.
