These robo-calls are highly immature - not just the idea of them, but the scripts themselves sound like they've been written by 6th graders. This is especially true of the "bitter" one.

These attacks aren't working this year (thankfully) because people aren't just tired of them but also because the delivery of them is completely horrid. It's as if, when those doing the attacking, say this stuff with a questioning tone..."hey..I'm saying this, are you gonna believe it?...I'm not sure I do but hey, you could!"

The difference between the attacks in the last two campaigns and this one, it seems,is that Bush genuinely believed in his own lies. When McCain delivers his lines, you can tell he isn't sincere, you can tell he's just saying this stuff 'cause he wants to get elected.

Like everything else in his campaign - Epic Fail.

Though I thought that the donor rumors could be more credible due to FEC statements and stories within the MSM about it, I can't seem to find any statement from the FEC questioning his donations which is good.

Anyway, thanks for the response!

This is awesome news, for sure, but I keeping hearing rumors that a lot of these donors are suspect, how the FEC still has a lot of questions, and how the Obama camp has been less than forthcoming.

Mostly I hear this from questionable sources, but every once in awhile an article will appear in some MSM organization. Obama has run a flawless campaign thus far and I desperately hope that this man gets elected, but I always find myself waiting for the other foot to drop...there actually being a 'whitey' tape, video of Obama doing something crazy, or whatever.

Can anyone answer for me if this is needless worrying, or is their anything to these donor rumors? I suppose if there was, it'd already be out there...but, you know, that other shoe and all...

Are you trying to equate the unsavory comments about Obama on any random conservative, or right-wing blog with the unsavory comments about McCain here? Seriously?

The few conservative blogs and comment sections that I've skimmed through have been making fun of Obama's name, as you mention is done here with McCains. But there is a huge difference between readers/posters here calling McCain lame, or nasty (due to his campaign) and the constant comparisons of Obama to Osama Bin Laden. A huge difference.

McCain is heavily criticized here a lot, as being erratic, crazy, and angry because that is how he has behaved. It's accurate. And when it comes to his policy positions, he's criticized even more..and rightly so. Look at what they have wrought the last eight years. Those people that show up at Palin rallies do not do this and I'm willing to bet that it is a minority that understands what Obama's positions actually are. No, their comments and attitudes are mostly hateful, racist garbage..character attacks and I don't see how calling McCain 'lame' and Obama a 'terrorist' is the same.

I've read a lot of posts here at TPM and it's quite apparent, to me, that if you say derogatory, gross, slanderous things about anyone...you will get called on it by more than one person

I do get your underlying point though, and judging by the difference in tone at the Obama-Biden and McCain-Palin rallies...so do most Obama supporters.

I've a question for you guys, but before I do I just want to make clear that I am an Obama support, albeit from afar. I'm mostly a lurker here and read the posts as well as comments, and I know nothing of the science of polls...

So my question is, when Obama was down in the polls a few weeks ago, the tone around here was that the polls shouldn't be trust due to a number of reasons (first time voters, registration imbalance, cell phone uses, etc), but now that Obama is up dramatically the tone is quite different. Why should these polls be trusted now? I know that the state-by-state polls are what matters more than the national polls and Obama is up in those too, so is the attitude toward all these national polls just because it's nice to see Obama up or is there any specific reason to trust these polls now than when Obama was down?
