Alleged rendition/torture victim calls on Obama to investigate, prosecute if necessary
Yemeni Citizen Mohamed Farag Bashmilah wrote a piece today in the Huffington Post in which he recounts how he was kidnapped, sent to Jordan and tortured. But here is the part that almost made me cry:
My father passed away while I was disappeared and I am still distraught thinking that he died without knowing whether I was dead or alive.
It is my hope that the President will not only establish this commission, but that he will also direct the relevant authorities to investigate and prosecute those who broke American laws in ordering the torture and disappearance of people like me. Truth and justice are not in opposition; both are necessary, and both are the right of all Americans and the victims harmed in their name.

How is this any of Obama's business?

Barack Obama AKA "The President of the United States" officiates over the government which illegally kidnapped people and took them to countries that would torture them. This is a form of international terrorism and is highly illegal. As President Truman said: "The buck stops here".

Mr. Obama officiates over a government which may or may not have transmitted persons believed to be dangerous to the authorities in third party countries which had an interest in those persons.
It's only terrorism when the other guy does it; this technique dates to the Clinton Administration if not before. I am also far from sure what laws may have been violated.

And you're entirely uninterested in investigating your ignorance.

Dead on!
Why would I be interested in investigating my ignorance of a shoddy affair that (even if true) would just make "my people", qua The United States, look bad around the world if it was demonstrated and discussed more broadly?
We have rugs to sweep things under.
