AP Slams Obama's "Spin" on Budget Deficit
Associated Press writer Calvin Woodard today criticized Barack Obama's claim in his infomertial/ad that "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost", referring to his programs.
The fact, as reported by the AP, is that
Independent analysts say both Obama and Republican John McCain would deepen the deficit. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Obama's policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years - and that analysis accepts the savings he claims from spending cuts. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, whose other findings have been quoted approvingly by the Obama campaign, says: "Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next 10 years." The analysis goes on to say: "Neither candidate's plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified.

I don't know who Calvin Woodward is but he may want to actually ask the Obama campaign to back up their claim. My guess is that they could and this is a difference in process and interpretation. My money is on Senator Obama's economic sources.

You can't get off one-liners like that without allowing comments. Comments are fun.

And others don't support your anti-Obama/pro-McSlimer view.
But yer "ethical," "truthseeker77," so as an imaginary professional journalist you comply with the obligatory three-source rule -- NOT.

Why the F*** are "truthseeker's" diaries always appearing on the "recommended list? I see only one recommendation [was he/she allowed to self-recommend?] I wouldn't think that would be enough to classify this tripe as "recommended."
I only came in to confirm that the diary's content was as bad as the headline suggested. Sorry I gave it the support of that one click.

The analysis goes on to say: "Neither candidate's plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified. [Emphasis mine.]
Democrats have been saying tax cuts don't promote economic growth for 30 years. Are you a reformed believer now?
Welcome to the real world.
Think deficit spending. The tax cuts are only a beginning.

Hint: Only one candidate has said tax cuts would promote economic growth. It was not Obama.

Unclear on the concept:
The alleged fact doesn't seem to relate directly to the cited out of context "spin" -- "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost" -- so who is critiquing what here?

Truthseeker77 is always sidewinding his way toward an implication like this. His arguments don't generally make sense.
Truthseeker seldom presents a complete picture, it's on you to figure out what he's left out, either deliberately or through ignorance. Happy hunting!

THE SPIN: "That's why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs, for the typical family by $2,500 a year."
THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by $2,500, or any set amount.

So Obama did not claim that which Woodward is arguing against and that's a big ole heapin of StrawMan pie.
Calvin (and you) must be confused.
