Linking Limbaugh to McCain is Preposterous, Analysts Say

A recently-released Spanish language ad targeting Latino voters linked Rush Limbaugh's bigoted comments about immigrants to John McCain, despite the fact that Limbaugh has been highly critical of McCain's immigration policies in the recent past.

Here's the assessment of the ad issued by independent website Politifact.com:
The whole thing begs the question, what are quotes from Limbaugh doing in an attack ad against McCain, especially one that highlights immigration?

Limbaugh is hardly a McCainiac and in particular has been highly critical of McCain’s views on immigration.

Limbaugh and other grass-roots conservatives derided McCain’s 2006 efforts to forge a compromise immigration plan in the Senate that combined border security and work-site enforcement to root out undocumented employees, with a guest worker program for most of the illegal immigrants in the country.

Jake Tapper at ABC's Political Punch also criticized this ad.

The Obama campaign should be more careful next time.

We Democrats should stop hacking into people's emails

I'm very disappointed to hear that the son of a Democratic State Representative is in the center of allegations that he hacked into Sarah Palin's emails.

We should not do that, as it is illegal and unethical. We are better than that.

Maureen Dowd ceases to be obsessed with Hillary Clinton

Thanks to Sarah Palin. The NY Times columnist has found a new toy, and writes about nothing else.

Good.

"Out of touch" Bill Clinton sent just one email during his presidency

Bill Clinton, seen by 87% of Americans as having been a good or excellent president (Harris Poll, April, 2008), sent just one email during his 8 years as president of the United States. The email was addressed to a NASA space shuttle.

Technically he sent two, but the other one was a test to make sure he knew how to send emails:

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (Reuters) -- The archives of the Bill Clinton presidential library will contain 39,999,998 e-mails by the former president's staff and two by the man himself.

"The only two he sent," Skip Rutherford, president of the Clinton Presidential Foundation, which is raising money for the library, said on Monday.

One of them may not actually qualify for electronic communication because it was a test to see if the commander in chief knew how to push the button on an e-mail.

His low e-mail count makes him officially an out of touch ex-president, according to Obama-campaign logic.

Obama Campaign Ad Under Fire for Unfair Attack on McCain

As you must know, a recent Obama campaign ad mocked John McCain's inability to send emails; but in doing so, it ignored inconvenient facts that undermine its case, such as this one, reported in 2000 by the Boston Globe:
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.

The aforementioned fact was repeated by Forbes the same year:
His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop.

The LA Times has noted this "oops" here.

The Obama camp must be more careful and conduct conduct the appropriate research next time, lest it digs a hole for itself.
