Remember How McCain Slammed Obama for wanting to talk to our enemies ...

Turns out he was advocating the same thing just a few years ago. With Hamas, no less (you know, the group whose 'endorsement' is the kiss of death).

This 'maverick' (Mr. McCain) has flip flopped on almost every single issue that you can change positions on. Tax Cuts for the wealthy, Immigration, now this.

Edwards endorses Obama ... how I said he would

About damn time!

PS: I'd also like to point out that I called this one a while back

I know we make fun of Faux News but ... they're kicking everyone's ass

I was shocked to read this article by the New York Times that showed that Fox actually (on average) has the viewership of MSNBC and CNN ... COMBINED!!!!

So I did a little research and what I found stunned me even more.

The top THREE Cable News shows in ALL OF AMERICA ... are Bill Orally,  Hannity & Colmes and Greta Van Susteren?!?!?
And thats before Olbermann or Cooper even enter the picture ....

wow.

My fault for believing Adam Green of MoveOn when he called Fox News audience "puny". I honestly believed (up till 3 hours ago) that very few people actually watched Fox.

I was just wondering if anyone here can explain what it means that a station as terrible and biased as Fixed News ... commands that kind of audience.

Doesn't that lend credence to the oft-parroted claim by Republicans that America really is pretty conservative?

Hillary flubs photo op at the gas pump

The goods are about 2 mins in ... you only need to watch till about the 4 minute mark.

She's such a phoney.

The Jeremiah Wright Interview ...

Just ran on PBS an hour or so ago. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Why Edwards won't endorse Hillary Clinton before North Carolina

<personal opinion>He would love to ... (which is why his wife is stumping for her), but he doesn't want to endorse her but have her still lose North Carolina.
That would make him look very ineffectual for a high-powered endorser.
So expect his endorsement after North Carolina, if she wins Indiana.</personal opinion>

Excuse me TPM readers ... I have a question ...

I've been following American politics for a bit, but I realize how little I still know, so can someone tell me why it was okay for George Stephanopoulos to be one of the questioners during the debate?

I just found out that the guy was a presidential adviser to Bill Clinton and also his communications director!!!

Isn't there a conflict of interest? Isn't it a big deal?
Please school me on this.

Carter and Gore set to endorse ....

Obama?!?!?
Very interesting article from the Scotsman (the same paper that was the downfall of Ms. Samantha Powers of the Obama campaign).

CNN panel comes out hard in defense of Obama "bitter" gaffe

I would never have thought it would happen in a million years, but here is a CNN panel defending Obama's comments about small town Pennsylvania today.

Especially interesting is Jack Cafferty's (a man I admire very much) response.

Watch.

Still hoping this is not as bad for Obama as my gut tells me it will be.

And oh by the ... way Bill Clinton supported that trade deal ...

You know ... the one Mark Penn got "fired" for.
[Check it out]

New ARG poll has Obama tied with Clinton in PA

The latest ARG Poll has it

Clinton: 45%
Obama: 45%

This is the third poll that has it this close.

You will remember that there was the PPP poll that had Obama ahead 45% to 43% and this InsiderAdvantage Poll that had Obama just 2pts behind ...

I guess this means that the PPP poll might not be the outlier most people thought it was.

It will be interesting to see how the other polls (Rasmussen, Zogby et al) come out after this.

Breaking NEWS! Obama Lied!

... to this journalist ... about bumming a cigarette.

Only, he really didn't. Obama himself never told the guy he hadn't smoked and Obama later confessed to having "fallen off the wagon a couple of times" on MSNBC's Hardball a day or two ago.

But Jake doesn't like being lied to.

-------------------------
Except that I don't like feeling that I wasn't being dealt with honestly. And as much as citizens who are suspect of the media might scoff at such a notion, many of us consider ourselves to be your representatives to help make sure our leaders are telling us the truth, and leading the country down a path we're confident is the right one. (Corny, I know.)-------------------------
and then here's his grand finale
----------------------------This isn't the only time I've felt that way about the Obama campaign, of course
-- its response to the Austan Goolsbee controversy was a profile in dissembling.-------------------------------------
wow. I can see exactly how they relate :|
Give me a break Jake ... do something revolutionary ... report the frickin' news.
What a joke.

*ahem* ... Hillary claimed she once tried to be a Marine?!?!

This is way back from 1994, so I'd appreciate it if anyone that could give it some context. But, it sure sounds like the imaginary sniper fire to me ...
[NY Times: Hillary Clinton says she once tried to be a Marine]

Hillary's biographer on Hillary -- "She has always had a difficult relationship with the truth"

Here is the article Hillary Clinton: Truth or Consequences especially interesting because Carl Bernstein is a pulitzer winner who wrote a biography about Hillary
I think this goes to the heart of what I think is Hillary's MAIN problem. She strikes me as a dishonest person, willing to do or say ANYTHING to get wherever she wants to be.
THAT, is what turns me off her in a large way ... not sure about the rest of you.
[I think some of you are convinced she drowns baby kittens in her spare time :P]
Key quotes

Since her Arkansas years [I wrote], Hillary Rodham Clinton has always had a difficult relationship with the truth… [J]udged against the facts, she has often chosen to obfuscate, omit, and avoid. It is an understatement by now that she has been known to apprehend truths about herself and the events of her life that others do not exactly share. ” [italics added]
The Bosnian episode is a watershed event, because it indelibly brings to mind so many examples of this tendency– from the White House years and, worse, from Hillary Clinton’s take-no-prisoners presidential campaign. Her record as a public person is replete with “misstatements” and elisions and retracted and redacted and revoked assertions…
As Hillary has continued to speak from the protective shell of her own making, and packaged herself for the widest possible consumption, she has misrepresented not just facts but often her essential self. Great politicians have always been marked by the consistency of their core beliefs, their strength of character in advocacy, and the self-knowledge that informs bold leadership. Almost always, Hillary has stood for good things. Yet there is a disconnect between her convictions and her words and actions. This is where Hillary disappoints. But the jury remains out.
