Joe Lieberman: foot in one party, middle finger in the other.
We're hearing a lot from Senator Joe Lieberman, (R) (D) from Connecticut, lately. So I thought we could dedicate a post to the best things ever said about him. Maybe we could chronicle his hypocrisy, a continuum of sorts--on one end, the most hypocritical things he's ever said, on the other end....well, okay, there's only one end.
Got any favorite Lieberman moments? Care to dedicate a poem? A limerick?
How about lyrics for a Joe Lieberman Blues Collection?
Born up near Poughkeepsie, came out whistlin dixie...
Take it away, TPMCafe.

The Lieberman blues.
What am I thinking?
He's too Republican
to experience anything blue.
Joey Joey the Conn man.

Lieberman smiles and always talks smugly
Incapable of mouthing the truth.
His face has gotten so ugly
Describing it would be uncouth.
He went to the Repub Convention
And bad-mouthed our own party's pick.
Oh, how did I forget to mention...
This guy is just only a dick!
Narcissistic is only a word,
But it describes that ol' Joe to a tee.
Here's another one: he's a big cow turd.
His departure would fill me with glee.
But let go of power? I don't THINK so...
He'll lie cheat and steal to stay there.
All he says, all he does sure does STINK so!
But the truth is he just doesn't care!

Lieberman is a three syllable word: hyp·o·crite

Um, I think the two syllable noun is better! (heh)

so many two syllable nouns to choose from, though. Surely you must have a preference, Aunt Sam. How about at least choosing your favorite suffix?
_______hat.
_______hole.
_______head.
_______wipe.

Had to come back for this one.
Announcer: "The Adventures of Lieberman"
Faster than speeding bullshit!
More powerful than a local mohel!
Able to jump tall sharks at a single bound!
Voices: "Look, up in the sky! It's a turd! It's a shame! It's Lieberman!"
Announcer: "Yes, it's Lieberman, strange senator from another party who came to caucus with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal Dems. Lieberman! who can change the course of mighty reform, bend truth through his bare teeth; and who, disguised as Joe Mama, mild-mannered Independent for a great liberal state, fights a never ending battle for vermouth, rustics, and the Far Right way."

With apologies to my dear friends here, and to TPM in general, because I admire and espouse dignified communication with regard to public policy:
This citizen of Connecticut Joe Lieberman was effective as CT Attorney General. And I was proud of him, when I lived there. As a matter of fact I think aspiring to State AG and attaining that office is commendable, because in my opinion local politics are, or should be, the brew of social issues that service to country inspires. Service to Country, in case you didn't get it.
That is why, perhaps mistakenly, I was proud to drive/walk to his Westville, CT address to wave him off and wish him well as he departed on his journey to the 2000 presidential election. I mean to say that Al Gore might have chosen a really great Governor, or any Senator for a running mate-but I trusted Al Gore to make the choice. Still I was proud, because back a while, a State Senator had become AG for Connecticut, the State where I have spent most of my life. Wow. And here he was down the road, the partner for the running presidential candidate of the party representing values my family has espoused for at least three hundred years, maybe longer. Yes, longer, at the time perhaps, than Connecticut had even been a State when I lived there. I say "at least" because I was born in Canada and the Liberal traditions in my family are much older than both countries. Besides, where I come from, who's counting? I am from North America.
So, to Joe Lieberman: What is your issue with the liberal leaning of Liberal North American values?

Although Al Gore didn't realize it at the time, he made a mistake that would be repeated two decades later by the opposition. Joe was Gore's Sarah! That's right. Gore and McCain made the same mistake: looking for honor, loyalty and courage in human forms where there wasn't any.....

I am hoping one day, Donna Brazile will tell the real story on why the campaign settled on Joe Lieberman as a Vice Presidential pick.

The Democrats continue to miss the point. Only power used counts, power asserted is only hot air. The accepted this ass clown back into their caucus to assert power by the numbers, yet do they move any position forward? They need to learn from the Republicans who use every bit of power they have and end up being the real force in government.
I say "they" because the Democrats have left me behind in their rush to the right. I'll be waiting right here for the Progressive party to form now that the Dems and Repubs are effectively merging into the Corporate Party.
