Is there a village missing its minority?

Okay.

That's it.

Emergency.  Sound the five alarm idiot bell.

The Republican party is off the reservation.  They are now the official pace car of the lunatic fringe.

They are not the right wing.  They are the something is seriously wrong wing.

And I'm not just talking about Senator Chuck Grassley.

I'm talking about the whole lot.  De Mint. Inhofe. Shelby.  Bachmann. Cantor. McConnell. Boehner.  Cornyn.  Bond.  Coburn. Graham.  Gingrich.  Kristol. Krauthammer.  Jindal. Palin. Beck.  Limbaugh.

Collectively, they couldn't mount a brain wave if they tried.

The entire party is an intelligence-free zone and we are lucky--lucky I tell you--that they're no longer leading this nation.  But they're still very capable of doing damage.

Get out of the way of their crazy bus--they've thrown it into reverse, floored it and are about to side-swipe the age of enlightenment on a maddening turbo-powered race back to the dark ages.

Have fun, guys.

Don't let the door of the 21st century hit you on the way out.

Tremendous Tpmgary.Comical but true.

They have become a cartoon. Animated, all on their crazy bus in reverse Don't know how far back in time they'll go. Maybe they'll chisel us a postcard once they get there.

user-pic

I hereby render unto you the Knightly Line of the Day award for this here TPMCafe site, given to all of you from all of me for this gem:

"Get out of the way of their crazy bus--they've thrown it into reverse, floored it and are about to side-swipe the age of enlightenment on a maddening turbo-powered race back to the dark ages."

hahahahahaa

user-pic

I'm honored, DD. Thanks.

user-pic

That is a cool line and funny vision to imagine.

user-pic

Bravo! Well done.

What a gold mine of one-liners. And your list didn't even include Dubya, Big Dick and Turdblossom. Ah the 19th century: it was a grand time indeed.

user-pic

Sadly they know exactly what they are doing. Today's really dumb person (AKA the Republican base)does not tolerate being talked down to (something that many of our elite Democratic leaders tend to do to us)so they take off their jackets, roll up their sleeves, grab a chew and go muck the barn with their redneck pals. The problem is the chew rots your teeth and you never get the smell off ya...

user-pic

No...but there are obviously more than a few villages that are missing their Idiots.

And they are gathering at town halls when they are no pretending to be Senators.

Gary,

Terrific! Truly, the lunatics are now running the asylum! Giving the rest of us shock treatments!

Rec'd.

user-pic

Clearly, this is a party that forgot to pay its brain bill.

I've never seen anything like it.

Next press conference, they should tuck their hands in their pockets so they don't scrape their knuckles on the ground.

user-pic

They may not have the majority of legislators or the White House. But they've got the Supremes and the Corporations. And the gun-crazy!

They can still do big damage.

Excellent blog!

user-pic

And don't forget 90% of the media! They get coverage as if their lunacy was legitimate.

user-pic

Not "as if"; they are legitimately looney.

user-pic

Loons now feel bad..... ;0

user-pic

Who needs brain waves when you got cash and prayers?

user-pic

Cash. God. They can take both with them. But is it too much to ask them to exit modern civilization quietly?

user-pic
They are now the official pace clown car of the lunatic fringe.
Fixed.

Superb Gary! Well done!

Even with Kumbiology
I can’t adequately describe the behavior of those Hummerheads.

It’s like the idiots are on stuck on crazycruise control in their vehicles of madness, have rounded the last right turn at sixty seconds till sundown, and still entreat the darkness...

user-pic

Strato, a rallying cry, unfinished, to be sung on the Republican bus to nutsville:

We are the Hummerheads,
mighty mighty Hummerheads,
everywhere we go, people want to know,
who we are, so we tell them,
we are the HUMMERHEADS
mighty mighty KNUCKLEHEADS,
some are in the slammer,
dumb as a bag of HAMMERS!!.
ain't gettin smarter
so we get louder
WE ARE THE NUMBSKULLS
MIGHTY MIGHTY DUMBSKULLS,...

user-pic

We are the Hummerheads,
Idiotic Hummerheads,
Everywhere we meet,
People want to tweet
We repeat! We repeat!
We bully-vandalize,
abbreviate & scandalize!

We are the Hummerheads
Underwritten Hummerheads
Feral Sara Flummoxheads
Zany Cheney Bummerheads!
Zoom-a-wacko-doom!

user-pic

ha, you know how to take the ball and run with it Strato!! There is an entire songbook here,

Hymns Of The Hummerheads, Unplugged!!

user-pic

and Unhinged!

Last night on one of the seemingly endless replays of youtube videos of astroturf warriors, one of the interviewed said "I don't want America to be a socialized country."

Sometimes verbiage mistakes are true than what was meant. Certainly we are seeing copious examples of "unsocialized" behavior.

Don't folks know the difference between socialist and socialized?

I guess they are both nosocialists and nosocialized.

user-pic

I think I saw that. Some people just don't even know the difference between the ideas they rally against.

user-pic

Well put.

On a more serious note, the Republicans spent a LONG time as a minority party. One of the things they learned was how to stick together and fight in the street.

The Democrats still assume they have the majority with them and don't really have to get down in the gutter to fight. They're embarrassed when they tell a lie in the service of their cause, so they don't tell them very effectively.

Also, as Chait pointed out some time ago, the Dems are too concerned with the notion of "what works." If they discovered that government intervention in, say, health care didn't work, they'd abandon it. But the Republicans are filled mostly with principles which are operative regardless of whether they work or not. In fact, flying in the face of the facts is what people with principles do. If lots of resistance comes their way, it's a sign they're on the right track.

They don't mind being hated. It's a badge of honor. Dems hate being hated, which makes them seem unprincipled and wishy washy.

user-pic

i agree with most of what you say. But there is something really really absurd afoot. Being hated is one thing. But honestly, what I think is rapidly emerging is beyond being hated or feared.

The Republican party is now a clown car. A carousel of Looney tunes spinning round and round.
