It's part of the human condition. We exist by committee. There's the lower more primitive parts of the brain, that handle basic survival responses including fight or flight reactions, akin to a reptilian brain. And then there are the higher parts where reason, logic have potential. The higher parts can to some extent override the lower parts, but that takes training, education, forethought, discipline etc ... Without that, the lower reptilian brain rides roughshod over the higher parts and reason goes out the window.

But in fact, I'm an Obama voting democrat who is on the fence waiting to see what happens between now and nov. I suspect that too many Obama voters are having the same ambivalence. Do you see the problem?

You miss my point. I'm not trying to bring attention to wellstone or Moore. I'm trying to underscore that, although mostly misguided, a Buckley conservative is far more desireable than the brand we have now. The brand we have now lies, distorts, conflates, obfucates etc... I miss the Buckley style of conservative.

The policies that took us to the brink still remain. The banks have gotten larger and the current discussion on fin. reg. looks like it will leave the banks intact and able to find another way to screw the public.

I am uninspired. That is a fact. Many other Obama voters feel the same. The middle has moved away from Obama because of job losses, their lack of focus on jobs, his administration's perceived relationship to wall street and his unwillingness to push for a public option, which by the way had the support of the majority of the public.

I video on hope and change doesn't cut it for me. I'm just not feeling that hope-ful.

In looks like in order to prevent the "1995-98 freakshow of endless investigations of nothing, impeachment, obstruction, government shutdowns, and truly atrocious legislation ..." you speak of, the administration is going to have to prove that it is more on the side of main street voters then it has so far.
