Was Hawaii a State When Obama was Born?
Obama was born August 4th, 1961, at least that's what he says. Maybe the birthers don't believe that Hawaii is part of the REAL America. Maybe they don't know that the state was admitted to the Union on August 21, 1959. Maybe they don't believe that it really is a state, all those brown people and all.
HEY HAWAII ... SHOW US YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
HEY HAWAII ... SHOW US YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

This is a red herring, like the stupid idea that Obama didn't register for Selective Service on time when he turned 18. Last spring, I looked into that one and spoke with a clerk at the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, who confirmed that Obama had registered in compliance with the law. This one is no different.

Well, Obama could have ended it by making his birth certificate available. Instead his campaign posted an obvious forgery they claimed was his original certificate, despite the fact it bore no embossed seal and the border of the document was not of the correct style for the era. Funny that Dan Rather isn't looking into this issue like he did the Bush national guard stuff. Dems went all out looking for a smoking gun there. Now of course they take a different view on this issue.

Funny you brought that up! Rather did admit he was had by the forgery and the guy who created the document admitted the forgery. Case closed. Truth revealed. I do not believe Rather intended to deceive.
But these birthers! Team Obama shows them an unofficial copy and they scream fraud. Now the official documents have been seen by many and they are still screaming. It's been resolved, really. Bth parties have moved ahead except for 10 people who would have no appreciation for finding the truth and would sell their mother to get reeelected.

It's important that we keep our discussion on a high level and not attack one another on an ad hominem basis. So I'll keep that in mind.
But you're an idiot.

In 1936, John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone to American parents. American.
In 1948, Jackson Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany to American parents. American.

Please tell me you really don't believe this. Bulldog of all the things I may have thought about an idiot wasn't one of them.
Please go here to see the exact same certified copy that Obama posted on factcheck.org:http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html Notice seal, signature etc etc
The again if you are a true birther you tell us how factcheck is in on the conspiracy.
Bulldog not that it much matters to you , but truly disappointed.

"Instead his campaign posted an obvious forgery they claimed was his original certificate".
No, an obvious forgery would be my own re-issued, certified 1974 long-form birth certificate and current, certified short-form birth certificate listing my parents as two caucasion people who were not present at or party to my birth in 1974. Notable in this instance, I am not caucausion and am not the biological child of these two people. Yet, every court in every jurisdiction in this country, up to and including the Supreme Court, would recognize them as my parents, me as their biological child, and as a legal U.S. citizen entitled to all the rights and responsibilities that implies, in spite of the existence of an original certified, long-form birth certificate which I also have a copy of and, on it's face, contradicts some of these facts.
President Obama posesses a legally-certified, certificate of birth that was legally issued by the State of Hawaii and is legally recognized in EVERY jurisdiction in this country. There is not a court in this country that wouldn't recognize his birth certificate as valid as offered.
What exactly, then, is your standing to make such an argument?

No matter what facts are presented, the wingnuts will not accept the FACTS as evidence.
I guess McCain, who didn't raise this issue during the Presidential campaign, is conspired to put Obama in office. Ditto for Hilary Clinton.
This is about Obama's color. Plain and simple.

You are exactly right, tonnyb. I'd placed a commented showing my analysis for why bigotry can be the ONLY explanation for the right-wing 'birther' movement. I repeat it here:
The 'Birthers' question whether President Obama was born in one of the 50 states, yet they find no problem with the fact that John McCain definitely wasn't born in any U.S. state. There's no dispute about this fact. McCain was, of course, born somewhere in the Panama Canal Zone, although exactly where in the zone still is the subject of some dispute. Was McCain born in a civilian hospital, or was he born on the Coco Solo U.S. military base there? The fact is, even that detail doesn't truly matter. Here's what the U.S. Department of State's manual on U.S. citizenship says regarding the effect of being born on U.S. military base situated in a foreign land, according to an excerpt reported in a Washington Post article:
"Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth."
Which means that the only way McCain could be construed to be a natural born citizen is on the basis of one or both of his parents being a U.S. citizen. There is no dispute that Obama's mother was a U.S. citizen at the time of his birth, so, at the very least, Obama is as eligible as John McCain is to be POTUS. Of course, The Dept. of State doesn't interpret the U.S. Constitution, the Supreme Court does. Since the SCOTUS has never, to my knowledge, determined a Constitutional definition of, "natural born", there is NO BASIS for anyone to claim that Obama is not eligible, while, somehow, McCain is.
Which leads us to the REAL reasons the Birthers have their panties in such a wad. President Barack Hussein Obama has brown skin and an Arabic sounding middle name. It's ethnic bigotry, pure and simple. That's the all of it. For, there have been other Democratic presidents, but no one disputed their eligibility, so it's not because of that. There have been more liberal presidents than Obama, so it's not that either.
Most tellingly, it is NOT over whether Obama was or wasn't born in one of the 50 U.S. states, because John McCain absolutely was not born in one. So, what else distinghuises Obama to produce this level of, "not-one-of-us", type vitriol? What explanation is left, beside bigotry? Such extreme racial bigotry toward a man who is half white. They must only see the black half when they look at him.

d-day,
You are right. I check in the Freeper goings-on and they make it clear that there is no proof which they will accept. Any documentation is, and will be, declared a forgery. Just read what the bulldog wrote above in this very thread to confirm how insane the right has become. They even claim that the microfiche (remember that stuff?) archive of the Honolulu newspaper's announcement of the President's birth in August 1961 was a scam perpetrated by his grandparents.
The delusional right-wing is rapidly becoming the psychotic right-wing.

its nuts but Newton,
there was a guy on Matthews the end of last year, a black republican, claiming there were wmd's in Iraq and matthews would not let him talk
on mornin joke they would have let him talk
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I shall stick with my own site here and forget it!!!!!!!

Claiming they are not being allowed to talk is a classic right-wing tactic intended to let them dominate a discussion. What they really are saying is that they don't want anyone ELSE to be allowed to talk. This tactic also fits in with the "we are always being victimized" persecution complex of the far right.
I once watched Matthews call out a conservative who tried to use that very tactic on Chris' show. Chris even challenged the guy to watch the video replay, then and there, and count the total time he was allowed to talk versus his that of his debate opponent. The conservative did not take Chris up on his challenge.

The problem with Hawaii, and its inability to cough up its birth certificate, is that it's too exotic. I know. Cokie Roberts told me that last year when Obama had the godawful nerve to visit his grandmother who had the godawful nerve to live in Hawaii.
Sniff. Myrtle Beach is so much more acceptable to the Cokies of the world. Had he been born in Myrtle Beach, there'd be no birther conspiracy.
