The text in the cartoon reads, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill."

Of course some partisans will say, what's the big deal, and that too much is being made of this. For publishing this, the NY Post should get hit hard where it counts the most. I think a boycott is in order. Like the bus boycott in Montgomery during the civil rights movement, the NY post should be brought to its knees. 

Update: 1:20pm EST: Here we go with the explanations. Here's the full statement by Col Allan, editor-in-chief of the Post:

"The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."

It is not so clear to me. Some things should not be said, if for no other reason the history of derogatory references to AA as monkeys.

Congressional Democrats' poll numbers are up. That's a good thing. Those polls numbers are likely a reflection of public's improve perception of Democrats in congress as effective legislators.

Many congressional democrats were against seating Roland Burris, but their hands were legally tied by former Gov. Blagojevich's appointment. Now Burris has given the committee enough information to have him removed. To help his party, Burris should resign. If he refuses to resign, the Senate Ethics Committee should, in an uncharacteristic manner, act promptly. Hopefully there are capable replacements in Illinois, with clean hands. Handling this in a timely and effective manner could only help increase the public's perception of congressional Democrats.

Update: Roland Burris is beginning to sound like Blagojevich. He is saying that he didn't do what he admitted he did. These guys think that their past service gives them the right to lie.
