Clinton as Secretary of State
According to Keith Olberman. It would certainly be a bold move and a show on strength on his part.
Update: NBC Andrea Mitchell reported that
Why would Hillary want the position? When you consider what the US and the world have been through in the past 8 years -- Bush Doctrine, two wars, terrorism, Iran and Israel -- the Secretary of State will have a pivotal role in reestablishing American's leadership in the world.
As to the apparent disagreement in foreign policy between Hillary and Obama, I don't see Hillary's position since 9/11 and during the presidential primary as nothing more than political posturing for her presidential run.
Update: NBC Andrea Mitchell reported that
Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly. But her office says that any decisions about the transition are up to the president-elect and his team.ABC news is reporting that
'Discussions about Clinton, D-N.Y., being asked to accept the post are "very serious," an Obama source says.'I have no idea whether Hillary is really being considered or if it is more media speculation. To put someone of that stature in that position would reflects a great deal of confidence on the president-elect's part.

Au contraire.
Putting Hillary Clinton in that position would reflect weakness and signal that our FP would still be in the hands of the ME hawks.

I have no idea whether Hillary is really being considered or if it is more media speculation. To put someone of that stature in that position requires a great deal of confidence. Especially when you consider what the US and the world has been through in the past 8 years -- Bush Doctrine, two wars, terrorism, Iran and Israel -- the Secretary of State will have a pivotal role in reestablishing American's leadership in the world. I don't see Hillary undermining Obama's FP. I also don't see Hillary's position over those eight years as nothing more than political posturing for her presidential run.
Are you suggesting that Obama is seeking to continue the neocon policy on the ME? I just don't see Obama forfeiting all the goodwill his presidency and the US would gain from the world from his already stated FP posture.
The one thing I think many are forgetting is how a strong leader sets the tone for his administration.

Hell no - they are just embarrassed she wasn't vetted for VP and are trying to publicly make up for it. Why would Hillary even want Secretary of State? It's nonsensical. She's staying in the Senate.

They are trying to make up for it by putting her through the same thing again? Makes no sense. The mess about her being a VP pick was created by the media. Obama never gauranteed that she would be picked as VP, but he can't help all the speculation by the media - she was runner up after all. It is same thing over again. Obama keeps the MSM and Blogosphere in the dark while making his (extremely important) decisions, you guys get bored and have no choice but to make up news.
