God Sorry About Last 8 Years, Hopes Election Will Make Amends
He feels pretty bad about trusting things to run themselves, although that's normal policy for Him (He's actually a Libertarian). But since Evil People gummed things up with vote suppression, flipping etc., He thought it might help if He arranged for better weather than one might otherwise expect in early November temperate zone. How about 70 degrees and sunny in Chicago? Who can argue that's not a miracle?
He wants His people to know that He can't shorten the voting lines without contradicting the other efforts He is engaged in. He anointed One to boost enthusiasm, which would make a liberal victory more complete. He arranged for more awareness, thus larger voter registration, which means long lines. (So does better weather.)
He apologizes for being Busy with these Good Works, and letting Madeleine Dunham slip away before tomorrow. So give the Big Guy a break, and watch the manna from Heaven fill the ballot boxes Tuesday.

Good grief, Tom. The weather in Atlanta for tomorrow is 68 and partly sunny. You do have a miracle!
On the other hand, a tradition that God might approve of involving those long lines seems to have evolved here. Whenever a new voter in the line is outed, he/she is serenaded with much delight, if not musical ability.

God's not sorry, it's we the people who are.
Help us lord, lead us not into temptation and deliver us from the wicked.
Tom, the US government told God to butt out long ago, except to give the pretense of some godliness. Saying In God We Trust, doesn't prove they listen or obey.
To some the flag is more important, Nationalism, patriotism, jingoism, racism, all these ism's are in opposition to God.
As for the nice weather. Evidently Prayers do work ;)

Prayers apparently failed to deliver rain for the Democratic convention, if we think back to the pastor calling for it.
Instead, God thought he'd just apply His own interpretation, working up a full-on hurricane. He then allowed it to arrive a bit late, just in time for the GOP to act concerned.
Praying seems to share attributes with herding cats. And the Democratic Party is now rather the opposite of Will Rogers' chaos. More miracles!

That was a good reminder.
All the pundits are talking about the tanking of the economy, contributing to McCain’s dismal performance in the polls
I had forgotten the R Convention being forestalled. Possibly working against John
Maybe if it weren’t for bad luck, McCain wouldn't have any luck.

Signs and portents, meteor experts say this year's Taurid meteor shower has a higher-than-normal chance of occasional bright fireball shooting stars. (We're entering a dense region, it seems.) Best chance of one is Wednesday night, but early arrivals could be seen Tuesday.

God had nothing to do with the last 8 years just like God has nothing to do with what we create for ourselves. The last 8 years was due to voters who do not turn out / the electorate not researching facts / and allowing cheating Republicans to get away with slimy tactics. All of these are human activities.

Yes, of course. Universe has been on autopilot from the beginning. Or rather, no pilot at all.
Ever see the Hubble Legacy project shot of M51, the Whirlpool? Would be a nice avatar

What a great post, Tom!
I'm just north of Tom and I too woke up reveling in the lovely sunny weather and just over 70 degrees forecast for this gorgeous November election day with beautiful Fall colors still on trees here.
I'd add one more God-given blessing on this day. Daylight saving ended, so there's more light in the early morning. And people who needed to get out and vote before work found it easier to find their way to their polling places. (yes, dark will come sooner.. but on this warm day, no matter long the lines, people will not be cold. And with so many warm hearts among them, well, I can only imagine their joy waiting to vote, even as night come)
Peace to you, Tom, and to all on this historic day.

God doesn't make mistakes. He gave us George Bush to aid in the rise of a Barack Obama. I wouldn't know what God thinks I am just saying......
