Stop the Campaign Before Someone Gets Hurt
God, I'm tired of this. As Gail Collins said in today's NYT, "For John McCain, the best question now is not whether he's going to lose, but what kind of a country he'd wind up with if he won after a campaign even a telemarketer can't love. " She is referring to the guy that couldn't go the last step of placing an ugly smear call for the McCain campaign.. Can anyone imagine the ugly mood that would ensue if, somehow, Obama loses?
Not only the simmering suspicion that only outright vote theft and overbearing voter suppression could prevent a major Democratic sweep, but the despondent resignation that would settle, a medication-indicating depression, on the body politic, will be the climate non-change we can expect to learn how to live with. Or not commit suicide with. The silent majority will be the catatonic majority, we hope, considering the alternatives.
Many Republicans have been realizing, perhaps without knowing it, that they have a responsibility to prevent that dread future, and lack the bloody-mindedness they would require to stick to their guns and religion of imaginary wealth and empire.
Ruth Marcus, in WaPo, found that it is pretty hard to spend an average of $4,300 per outfit, at Neiman-Marcus, for 35 outfits, and wonders how Palin found enough places to waste contributors' money. And it's getting to be more than Daily Howler can handle, even with the help of the Onion, or 23/6, or Jon Stewart, when these loonies that front for the big money keep dumping on the floor. They deny what they say, even when confronted with the video recordings of their idiotic statements.
"Well, that's it, I guess. I just cut off your arm." "No you didn't; it's just a flesh wound."
If there is a God, I'm not real happy with His plots. They're downright cruel.
