Something about poetry and justice, seeing the GOP and McCain go down because of the collapse of free-rein financial partying, and because their opposition is burying them with campaign contributions. McCain chose the federal money, and Obama said "So long, sucker" and is mounting a blizzard of ad buys, with multifarious themes and venues, and including 30 minutes of paid-for prime time.
Even the formerly fearsome RNC money machine is way behind, and McCain thought he would get some points for announcing Obama had spent more on negative ads than anyone in history. Given that Dem negative ads amount to maybe 1/3 of the total, that implies a pretty huge ad campaign.

Forget the 60s--this is the next big thing. There will be children born after the first African-ancestry American President, or if an impossible turnover occurs, the first major campaign. Obama is Jackie Robinson, in the big leagues without the freedom to show anger.
Unlike Robinson, though, most of the country's elite is solidly in Obama's corner, with endorsements from all three major newspapers, much of the political establishment, many of the opposing party, and likely the entire cellphone generation, excluding those raised in gated communities or fundamentalist compounds.

Actually, I thought we had already showed those towel-heads that ours was the bigger God, when we were victorious in Iraq. But then we were became at risk of losing, (after being victorious). So we surged, and won, but victory is still unsure, and Obama wants to lose so he can win. Of course, he would win because we want him to, which would mean we want to lose. And if that's what we want, then we should.
But we forgot that the result would be the former losers thinking they had actually won, and that their God is bigger than ours. And electing Obama would surely make them think they had won, because Obama wants to lose.
Simple. We have to save God from the baby-killers, gays, terrorists, liberals, etc. It's a Holy Campaign! Elephant jihad!
Having disappointed the actual conservatives, and disgusted the intellectuals, all McCain has left is the wackos.

Update thread for lingering bugs here.
I still want negative recommending but don't expect it. More, I want posts that the whole community can vote on. In the old days that was reserved for trusted users, those with enough good karma, (aggregate recommendations). A discussion post needed five votes, I think. One could vote up or down, to post or dump.

So we see the verdict of Wall Street, following the other markets, that they very much are OK with the idea of governments owning shares. After all, shareholders are shareholders, right? Better the government than Carl Icahn.

Ah, the old days, when we had Discussion Tables requiring votes to get on the board. We kind of ignored the blogs, since they often had spam and invective.
All we have are unmoderated blog posts, and certain people have been getting nasty regarding certain others, and some continue to complain about the company here. (It's not clear to me what reward there is in being unpopular, except for the troll-like enjoyment of seeing any reaction.)
Some of us are constant gadflies, always bringing a contrary viewpoint to our favorite topics, and that's a fine tradition. Some look for data to counter a point, and some look for data to confirm a point. Some raise an argument that needs more attention. Some raise an issue not getting any attention.
But it doesn't help the site or our politics to attack others directly, in the blog list.
