« This is the perfect day for launching "The Middle/Missing Class Public Action Council" Your help and expertise is needed. | O¿O in the crowd's Blog | Mr. President... What the Fuck? Where did that "steel in your spine" Biden talked about run off to? I am about to lose my house and you are about to lose yours! I/We Need your help. »

I have been rather discouraged... It is time for Obama to accept the role of Buford Pusser and "WALK TALL" into the Senate Finance Committee and crack some heads!

I can see no other answer to the cluster fucks known as the Senate Democratic Caucus and the Senate Finance Committee, but for the President to get a big damn stick, not walk softly and let those DINOs know that if they don't pull their heads out of their asses they will be facing a fully supported primary challenger.

I have thought about this in my moments of teeth gnashing anger and the only conclusion that I can see is that at some point the President is going to have knock heads.

I am sorry for being AWOL and it was just that, because I have come to the conclusion that Obama has bent over so far to please the GOP and dumbfuck democrats that we are all going to take it in the ass - with absolutely no lubricant.

SOMEONE please tell me what can be done to put these alleged majorities to use, PLEASE!

At this moment I would not vote for Barack Obama, and if he continues to APPEASE these members of the CORPORATE PARTY (both Ds & Rs).

I have nearly given up on Obama because it makes no difference if you can wax eloquent and are completely afraid to back it up behind the scenes, when your own party is fucking you just as bad as the GOP if not worse.

PLEASE, MR. PRESIDENT, QUIT PLAYING NICE AND

CRACK SOME DEM HEADS IN THE SENATE

And as much as I hate to say it, today I think

                                SHERROD BROWN - 2012

                                                                                   sounds pretty damn good.

I see a lot of disallusionment on the Presidents face over healthcare reform..He honestly thought that his colleagues in the Congress wanted to do the right thing...

I am not sure how he will handle the fools but I do know he wants what the people want..He may get an earfull from the voters but think he is getting tired of playing nice with the obstructionists..It is refreshing to hear him call them on this BS and their lies...But it may be time to take them to the woodshed..we can help..call them 1.800.828.0498. Remind them of 1993-4 --this could be a preview for them of 2010 on both sides of the ailse..I have already donated to a group to remove Conrad!

"And as much as I hate to say it, today I think
SHERROD BROWN - 2012"

Only if you want to see President Palin and Vice President Bachmann in office...Just doesn't work for me.

But it IS good to see you back...

WELCOME BACK!

We missed you. How are you?

Okay, now gotta ask - if you wouldn't vote for Obama now who would you choose and support?

And I do agree about the whole cluster group - (gag).

Again, so glad you are here again.

Gooood to have you back Face! As for Sherrod Brown? NOT so much; not yet.

Should we all simply clog the WH phone lines from now until the day we hear a different tune from the Oval Office? This was an internet driven presidential campaign that worked, by damn. Not a whistle stop driven campaign. So, is it OUR lack of resolve now? A collective I Can't Do This By Myself?

Screw the Senate Finance Committee.

Under Rule 14 any Senator can put any bill directly on the Calender, including a bill identical to one sent to Committee or one that mirrors the House Bill. Bringing such a bill to the Floor is normally the prerogative of the Senate Majority Leader but is formally a motion subject to debate and so a filibuster. But nothing would prevent Reid from taking a passed version of HR3200 and proposing to bring it directly to the floor for a vote and in doing so passing the Finance Committee completely. Now Baucus et al could mount a filibuster against this motion that would prevent any debate to start with. But this would be a big fuck you to the Majority Leader's acknowledged powers to schedule and manage legislation on the floor. Certainly once the bill was taken up it would be subject to amendment(s) but each amendment would then to subject to a non-debatable Motion to Table which on a majority vote would kill the amendment(s) leaving the underlying bill intact. As long as Reid can hold a block of 50 votes together there is no procedural barrier between bringing the bill to the floor and final passage when the bill would again be subject to filibuster. At a point when that meant killing the whole bill.

No it is not usual to bypass the Committee process. Then again it is not usual for a Committee chairman to convene a rump group that originally had four members from the minority (prior to Hatch dropping out) and only three from the majority and two of those objectively against the versions of the bill that emerged from Senate HELP and the House Tri-Committees.

The Constitution is quite clear. Revenue bills MUST start in the House (that this provision is routinely ignored is for this purpose beside the point). Nothing keeps such a bill from being entered on the Senate Calender or from any Senator moving to bring it to the floor. At which point the bill is subject to amendment and then a motion to bring it to a final vote. If the bill survives a filibuster on that motion and is passed in un-amended form it goes straight to the President. No conference, no reconciliation with Byrd Rule, nothing.

Bill passes House, Bill brought to Senate Floor, Bill Passes Senate, President Signs Bill. Bill Becomes Law. Yeah that never happens on any bill more significant than a resolution to declare today National Beat Wheat Blight Day but there is nothing except deference to Senate tradition that would keep that procedure from applying to HR3200.

Of course Max Baucus's feelings might get hurt in the process so I guess it wouldn't be prudent. Never mind.

I see this bill coming out of Finance, passing the Senate, and then being replaced by the House version in committee.

er, conference, I mean.
