Post Claim Underwriting or How Health Insurance Companies Are Killing People
Just watched a hearing with CEOs of Wellpoint, Assurant and Unitedhealth Golden Rule health insurance companies.
Once again the SOUL EATING BASTARDS do their best to maximize profits and screw policy holders to the point of killing them.
It was absolutely amazing to listen to these alleged human beings try to justify retroactively canceling a cancer patient's policy because of acne, even though she had been paying premiums for nearly 2 years.
Then listen to them try to explain away the bonuses they pay people for finding more ways to do this to other policy holders just when they need the insurance the most.
If you are able to track it down at c-span please take a look. It was a hearing chaired by Bart Stupak, if I can find the link I'll add it later. please post it if you find it.

fc,
THANKS for these links. I sat here watching this hearing wanting to throw things at my tv. When Stupak asked the CEOs the meaning of some of the terms on their EASY applications even the CEOs didn't have a clue.

Congressman Roy blunt from my former hometown of Springfield, Mo., will be heading up the GOP health care counter-initiative. Expect lots of dirty tricks and Orwellian argumentation. This will not be pretty. I donated $25 (best I could do) to the Dem's policy fund last night. Answer your Obama email with a contribution and let's get this shit right once and for all. FUCK Harry and Louise!
Good post.

Thankfully there's finally popular support for this. The debate about whether or not to do something is won, now we just have to figure out what to do.
