Is It Max Baucus or Max "FUCKUS"? Is it just me or is this guy screwing "U.S." all? Here is his office Phone (202) 224-2651, PLEASE....
...CALL MAX AND TELL HIM TO INCLUDE SINGLE PAYER ADVOCATES AND HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS IN THE SENATE FINANCE COMMITTEE HEARING ON MAY 12TH.
I just can't seem to make any sense out of the way Max Baucus is approaching the job of reforming health care in America, truth be told I don't understand why the first committee to take up this issue is Finance.
But, I digress.
It is quite apparent to me that Senator Baucus is much more interested in keeping his donors happy than he is in helping you and me. No other Democratic member of Congress has taken more money from big pharma and health insurance companies than this tool, Baucus got $183,000 from health insurance companies and $229,000 from drug companies.
Take a look at this blurb that tells of a speech Baucus made:
Speaking before the Hill "___"*"___" Breakfast Policy Briefing Thursday, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) argued the need for health care reform.
"Comprehensive health reform is my top priority in the Finance Committee," Baucus said. "And that's because when I look at the numbers, they add up to one thing -- a crisis."
*Now let me fill in the blank above and tell you WHO he was speaking to, AstraZeneca. Hmmm... isn't AstraZeneca a pharmaceutical manufacturer (read BIG PHARMA) that funds his campaign for Senate every six years.
I just saw a video of the Senate finance committee hearing that was addressing health care reform. Invited to attend by Baucus were Health Insurance Companies, Big Pharma and lobbyists for Health Insurance Companies and Big Pharma. Noticeably absent was anyone that was for SINGLE PAYER, in fact those in the audience that supported Single Payer were thrown out of the hearing.
I recommend that you take a look at THIS flier that supports Single Payer Universal Health Care.
I would also point out that polls show that over 60 percent of Americans and 60 percent of physicians want single-payer.
Here is a couple more sites to use in our quest for Single Payer.
Physicians for a National Health Program
Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Healthcare
PLEASE get involved and tell MAX to include ALL opinions in the Health Care Debate, ESPECIALLY the opinions of those professionals that actually provide Health Care!
Max Baucus is trying to keep the Insurance Companies and Big Pharma happy by screwing "U.S.".
PLEASE call MAX and let him know, we know, what he is trying to do!

Thanks for this Face. Didn't know physicians were on board as well. I gotta catch up...
Hope you're on the mend after that operation!

Don't mean to cut in... But you're too busy to call during office hours?
Record a Single Payer message for Baucus or the White House at night:
Call 1-800-578-4171 & press 0 for the White House or 1 for Baucus - during day direct connects to their offices.
You record it at night and they will put the message in their Que and forward it during office hours to their offices.

We need to learn how to create coalitions with each other, organizations unite together around big issues like this. That's how we can make sure we get a seat at the table. Demonstrate the numbers...

good stuff, thanks for staying on top of it. The legislative branch represents lobbyists and corporations. Maybe we should add a fourth branch of government that represents Americans.

TG,
Agreed! I would love to see a real Liberal run against "Montana Max". But alas it appears we can only hope.
Please call his office.

You are exactly right. Max Baucus is one of the biggest whores in Washington right now and he's in bed with the insurance companies. He's in business for himself and so as long as the cash keeps flowing to him, the John can do what they want with him. That's the way prostitution works as we all know.
The number one thing they want from their whore is for the alleged health care "reform" debate to occur without discussing any real change of the healthcare system beyond government subsidies for the insurance companies so they'll cover more people at greater cost and provide less medical care to the public than single payer would. That's the long and short of it.
There are other whores out there supporting Baucus, but he's the lead ho on the job in the Senate. He richly deserves a primary challenge and to be sent back to his home state where he belongs.

O,
Sooooo true! He's whoring it out, thinking he's so far out there no one will notice. I really think you should call and let him know.
Sorry I didn't get this posted sooner.

Geeez, Face is back with a flourish. An hour later and you are cooking.
Sure I'm in. I will play.
There has to be a government option. There just has to be. And once that option is there....we will eventually have a one payer system. The repubs know this. The big insurance lobbyists know this.
Baucus is not making me happy.
Great post Face. God I hope you are feeling better.

2D,
Feeling better still not supposed to talk AT ALL for 2 weeks, but last night I was screaming at my TV... in my mind. Which is not nearly as "satisfying" as actually yelling.
THANKS for the good wishes!

I have lived in Montana for 16 years and am still shocked at what passes for "Democrat" here. Most of the elected officials are business people who look for the most opportune time and party to run in. No ideology, just opportunism. Max is an unrepentant elitist from a big ranching family who went to Stanford. He once said, "Outsourcing...Get used to it." He helped concocted the evil Medicare prescription drug plan.
Max's chief of staff is now Obama's Deputy Chief of Staff and was Obama's Chief of Staff during the campaign. So you should also complain to Obama because it's just a bit too cozy for my taste.
Here's a letter from a Doctor from Texas to Baucus and why it was shameful of him to say "We need more police" and laugh as they hauled out the protesting doctors from his committee hearing on Tuesday. http://www.counterpunch.org/malinow05072009.html

Here's a link to the video of the Baucus 8 being hauled out and some excellent facts that should have been heard above the laughter. This is one of the sites for http://www.prosperityagenda.us/node/78

THANKS for the links!

From now on, Baucus' name should always be followed by a parenthesis: "Senator Max Baucus, D, Montana (Insurance $590,185, Health Professionals $537,141, Pharmaceuticals/Health Products $524,813)" showing how much funding he's been getting from the healthcare industry. It's a staggering amount and we need to brand him with it. The amounts can be checked periodically at opensecrets.org.

Senator Max Baucus (D-Schering-Plough Corp)
Senator Mitch McConnel-(R-Lockheed Martin)
Senator Evan Bayh-(D-Goldman Sachs)
Etc.

Here is a little blip on what is happening to middle America. My son, a doctor just finishing up his residency in NYC, had an ENT order a CT with contrast for a potentially dire medical problem. Once there, the hospital said they could not perform his CT because his insurance approved it WITHOUT contrast. He then said he would take financial responsibility and they still denied him the test! He was put on hold for another week. Who is driving the train here?
Good post. I think if Medicare recipients were suddenly denied their easy access to health care tomorrow, we would have reform in one week. I don't know what it is going to take otherwise.

A,
Thanks for the story! Please tell it to MANY others. I hope that we can shame Montana Max into allowing Single Payer advocates to at least be involved in the debate.
I would love to hear your son's opinion of the current state of Health Care affairs.
By the way I make a big distinction between Health Care and Health Coverage. For profit Health Insurance is far different than the profit involved in actual Health CARE! Health Insurance is just another species of Parasites.

My son called that day and belabored once again the state of health care in this country. He is very envious of the French.
He (29 y.o.) and my brother, a physician in his early 60's, both support a one payer system. I too am in medical and support the same.

No, but if Congresspeople had to deal with what everyone else did, instead of having a gold-plated health-care program, the issue would have already been solved.
What did Baucus say when someone inquired about how many people were standing up and protesting?
He laughingly said:
"WE NEED MORE POLICE!"
This is a DEMOCRAT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!
