It will have to be called the CORKER/SHELBY Depression since we are already in a recession!
Since Corker and Shelby lead the charge against AMERICAN automakers we must call this the Shelby/Corker Depression.
So please note this in your references to this new level of TREASON by those REPUBLICANS in the Senate that lead the FIGHT against AMERICAN automakers and how they put foreign owned companies ahead of AMERICANS!
I have called and emailed these 2 morons office's and ask you do the same.

Call me cynical, but I think democrats have a huge oportunity hear. Here we go, 2 southern republicans, killing GM, Ford and Chrysler,( and killing one million jobs in the process)to benefit... Toyota! I wonder how that goes in NASCAR nation.

I count at least 8 Democrats in these two lists, the exact number of votes needed to pass this. WTF? Someone who understands this needs to post on it, because I am having a hard time blaming only Shelby and Corker here. I understand there's parliamentary maneuvering and everything. But where was Joe Biden? What was Reid doing voting "NO", with Shelby and Corker?

reid voted no as a procedural thing so that he could bring the bill back up again. i guess if you vote against a bill you have the right to bring it up again. the senate is a cooky place with cooky rules.

Thanks. I figured as much, but wasn't sure. I still don't get the "didn't vote" group, though.

Can we send them Rising Sun flag lapel pins to replace their American flag lapel pins? I'm sure they will want to let their true colors show.

The southern GOP senators are horrible. You know doggone well their states gave away the farm to get the foreign automakers to locate in their states. Every time one of those plants is up for grabs the states go nuts trying to get their attention. It ends up with a twenty or thirty year tax break deal. The only people that pay taxes after its all over are the workers. The profits head offshore with very little tax being paid. It's just another way for corporations to avoid paying taxes. In 1950 corporations paid 49% of federal taxes collected. Today that number is about 16%. This is a problem

If the automakers die, it certainly won't be a result of blocking this bill. That's like solely blaming the last straw for breaking the camel's back. If the automakers fail, there will be enough blame to spread around...

my letter to buster corker
go here if you want to email bob corker
http://corker.senate.gov/public/
$350 Billion of the $700 Billion for the bank bail out is lost. Washington expects the people to believe that nobody knows who has it or where it went? I would submit that one does not get to be as well off as Bob Corker by letting billions of dollars disappear. Thank you though Senator Corker, for standing quietly by as the banks lined their pockets while the American worker struggles to survive.
While at nearly the same time you vocally and vehemently oppose a loan for Detroit because you are anti-labor. Would bankruptcy/restructuring cost $35 billion dollars in tax payer money? Bankruptcy would probably cut out the investors(even though they knew the risk going in). Is it better to let the middle class bare the financial weight, even as you try to bust the union to cut wages and benefits, further burdening the middle class.
Shame on you Senator Corker. Shame on you for lying to America. Shame on you and everyone else who had a hand in stealing our money. Shame on you for trying to bust the UAW and hurt the American worker. To hear you berate and condemn the union for an economic crisis they did not make or choose was disgusting to say the least. A bipartisan economic crisis brought about by the policies of you and your ilk.
The voters spoke loud and clear in '08. I assure you Senator, the voters will not forget what they have witnessed and we will be heard again. Next election I will be voting strictly anti-incumbent.
