Oh Snap, Markos Moulitsas of Daily Kos Just Called Tom Tancredo out on his Vietnam Era Draft Deferments

OMG, it was more than beautiful. I was taking a short nap, I woke up way too early today. It was almost 3:12 PM PST, and I heard Tom Tancredo talking, well rambling really, anyway, he had just finished calling Health Reform, Nazism or Concentration Camp stuff , or some such crazy bullshit. Towing the republican line he was basically saying any government run program would kill you, this is what they always say of course.. So David Shuster, who was sitting in for Ed Shultz, proceeds to ask  Mr. Tancredo about the VA. Of course Mr. Tancredo reiterated that Veterans hate the VA and went on for a minute or two about how bad it was. Then Shuster turned to Markos Moulitsas, a veteran himself, and as he  spoke about the efficacy of the VA Tancredo kept yelling, so Markos then said I am a veteran Tom, unlike you I didn't take a 1-Y deferment, I volunteered and served! Oh Snap! You should have seen the look on Tom Tancredo''s face, holy shit, if he could have, he would have jumped through the screen and tried to beat Mr. Moulitsas, but it was hilarious. 1-Y  I've since found out is he claimed to be treated for depression, that at the time was regarded to be mental illness and unfit to serve. But dickipedia translates the incident best of all saying,  he got it for the long time mental illness called cowardice. But anyway, Mr. Tancredo was mad, OMG, so mad he yelled at Markos and then pulled his electronic gear off his body and stormed off the set, it was so awesome.
I wonder if Mr. Tancredo  is more depressed now than  he was during Vietnam? LOL Tancredo, LOL!
Thanks for the laughs oh so sensitive Tom!

The chicken-hawk ran!

user-pic

Yes he did! He ran away from his own record... lol!

user-pic

I saw it too, and it was great! It is way past time that these chickenhawks get called out. They consider themselves experts on everything and get offended when they are faced with the truth, which they usually "manage" with lies. This was delicious!

user-pic

It was a thing of beauty, yes delicious.. fantastic, just desserts, I might add!

user-pic

Oh, Markos Moulitsas made Tom Tancredo cry!!! Hahahaha....

user-pic

Olbermann had video of the exchange on his show tonight.

Somebody (like Josh on TPM) should post the video. I'd like to watch it, like, 9 more times.

Tancredo trying to match wits with Markos Moulitsas was the equivalent to Tancredo hunting buffalo with a BB gun. How many of those big mouthed neocons has ever attended a boot camp? Don't ask\Don't tell should have given a majority of them a chance to serve!

Love it...Love it Love....IT.

Of course, like many political dicks, when it came time to actually enlist for military service, Tancredo received a deferment for his "depression." While many leading psychologists would diagnosis Tancredo's nagging mental ailment with the technical term "cowardice," it is possible that Tancredo was suffering from a form of depression induced by the increasing Mexican population in Denver.

Just too good.

I have to disagree. Depression is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you were treated for depression in the 1960s, I'd wager it would have to have been pretty serious. Think Tom Eagleton, who got "disqualified" for running for Vice President because of it.

Unless Markos has proof that Tancredo's claim was false, he should apologize.

user-pic

Puhleese, these was no ADA in the 60's and Tom Tancredo and others made up all kinds of shit to get out of Vietnam. I met a guy once who got out of Vietnam, Okay well I do know this guy but I am not saying his name, he took four quaalude, smoked some pot, had a couple shots and when they asked him to touch his toes he fell over so he was determined to be 4-F...oh snap! Good move I think! I could go on if you like but I won't. Mr. Tancredo owes John Kerry, Al Gore and other democrats an apology for continually attacking them and saying their service wasn't good enough, Tom Tancredo can suck it!
Oh and so can you...

user-pic

I'm sorry, I didn't insult you. Your civility would be appreciated, too.

Do you have evidence he made it up?

user-pic

And another thing: the fact that there was no ADA in the 1960s didn't make depression any less serious a disease than it is today. Plus, there was a whole lot more social stigma to it during the 1960s. If he got treatment for depression, it carried a lot more social risk for him than taking four quaalude and smoking some pot.

user-pic

No, no apologies to rat bastard republicans. No, no, no, Dem's have spent to much time apologizing. Mr. Tancredo should apologize for his douchey behavior over the years, will he do that, no. Do R's every apologize, No. So No, Markos should not apologize and I will continue to laugh at the clip!
Okay, nice enough for you.
You may not understand my blog often attracts many trolls, for all I know you are another one of my many troll followers. So what are you KennethThomas, troll or not?

user-pic

Didn't know you attracted a lot of trolls. Kenneth Thomas is my real name. You can read my book "Competing for Capital: Europe and North America in a Global Era" (Georgetown University Press, 2000), which is about competition for investment and how we can try to control it. I have a new book coming out probably in a year on investment incentives (often pure "corporate welfare") worldwide.

I teach at University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Please note:

Lux Umbra Dei vouched for Kenneth Thomas just about a year ago here:

Well that sounds very interesting. I am of the opinion that we should use a portion of the remainder of TARP, and take a more involved micro-economic direct distribution approach. I am also a huge believe in diversifying those federal contract competition. I think reinstating the percentages or even beefing up the percentages of women and minority owned businesses it in federal contracting requirements would be another important stop. Those techniques and little policy changes helped during Clinton's Presidency. The Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act of 1994, was great and if percentages were expanded to 7% - 8%, rather than 5%, there could be real job creation. I don't know all of what should be done of course, but I am interested in watching what small policy changes will come to fruition during this administration, and their impacts on the economy. The other question will be how much credit will be assigned to said policy changes. Clinton rarely get's credit for those things, cause policy is boring to people. I love it though!
Oh I do get trolled up sometimes, so I am always on the lookout to attack. They love me! I tend to jump quickly, think later, the Irish way.

I saw this. I thought my screen was going to erupt in flames. You could see it building right from the beginning. Shuster wasn't giving Tancredo any quarter. And you could see Tancredo coming very rapidly to a boil. Markos's perfectly timed fatal thrust was exquisite.

This was hardly a fair fight. It was good sport if you like massacres. It was encouraging to see a couple of libs going for the exposed jungular. Counterattack is the only logical proposition. As for entertainment, this is a ten.

user-pic

I know!!! I loved it! I do like massacres of asshats like Tancredo, those just make me super happy!

user-pic

I saw it on Olberman last night. It was really funny. Be great if TPM posted the video. Hint Hint

user-pic

Hi JohnRove... CMauken up in my comments posted a link to the video, it is up at DailyKos! Too damn funny!!!!

user-pic

I saw it! How Fabulous! Tancredo started out yelling. Shuster asked him the first question & he starts shouting. Then, he was called out. Man, it was so great!

user-pic

Yes it was a beautiful thing... satisfying really!
