CONSERVADEMS STOPPED HEALTH REFORM ONCE BEFORE, DON'T LET THEM DO IT AGAIN!
Yes you are reading the title correctly.
Who were those democrats that stopped health reform under Clinton? They were small conservative cadre of Democrats in the Senate Finance Committee, sound familiar. They blocked Clinton's efforts at health care reform: specifically, current Obama headaches Max Baucus and Kent Conrad, plus former senators John Breaux (a health care lobbyist today, no surprise) and the frequently useless Democrat David Boren (now played by Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Boren's next door neighbor.)
What are we going to do about this? I mean Baucus and Conrad are seasoned players when it comes to stopping reform, now it is time to stop them.
What will we do about our current incarnation of Conservadems who are owned by the Insurance Industry?
Max Baucus:
Donations from Insurance Industry: $558,075
Pharmaceuticals: $507,313
Health Professionals: $504,641
Kent Conrad:
Heath Professionals: $239,533
Insurance: $233,625
Ben Nelson:
Insurance: $441,586
Health Professionals: $225,776
Blanche Lincoln:
Health Professionals: $298,700
Pharmaceuticals: $153,304
Thomas R. Carper:
Insurance: $238,680
All information about those donors to the senators is available at OpenSecrets.org. The breakouts are listed in the top five donors to each senator, and with these particular senators.
Isn't it time we as voters took a stand against these folks.
I mean seriously, since at least two of these senators were instrumental in
defeating health reform in the early 1990's, isn't it time they paid the price,
shouldn't everyone know what they did, and what they are doing right now. Don't let them do it this time. Don't let them pay back their donors by screwing us again.

Shameless Mac. I think the old saw goes:
If you think these guys are bad you should see their constituents.
But the pay offs are sooooo blatant.

Yes Dick they really are a shameless bunch, same old players attempting to screw us all! I have a few relatives left in Montana, hopefully they will show Baucus the door next election. They might as well just elect a damn republican! We already know they are going to screw us!

Kudos to Rick Sanchez of CNN - everyday he has been posting amounts of funding from healthcare entities to politicos - noting that those voting against HCR have received substantially more $$$$ than those supporting viable HRC and public option. Says he will continue to do this and it's up to viewers to decide if the $$$ has impacted their actions.
I urge everyone to send CNN and Sanchez an email or other communique in support of this tact!
We need to acknowledge positive MSM reporting just as we do the negative!
Thanks tmc for this post. Wish u would do it everyday! So important.

Here's my question ... as smart and capable as I know our President is ... what in the heck makes him think he can trust the likes of Max Baucus? He is owned by the insurance industry! And that weasel Grassley, and his death panel nonsense ... please! Why are these people's opinions even being sought? I am so over this stupid arguement about whether or not we need a healthcare reform bill ... of course we do and it needs to be a radical change! And for more than just healthcare reasons. The banks need to get this message too. We are tired of a system that lets you get away with excercising way too much power over the American public. Why is it even a relavent arguement if the insurance companies can be competitive with a strong public option? If they want to stay in business, they will either be competitive or be inventive and offer those who can afford it, even better options. How hard is this to figure out? Americans, we have been fed a bill of goods and we've knuckled under for long enough. We finally have a President who wants to make America better and the lives of Americans better. The other side wants to make him out to be a devil. They want to turn everything upside down. Ask yourselves why. Why do republicans defend big business so much? Folks, we need to unite against the corruption going on in our country and against those who are content to let it continue. I am tired of it, are you? Congress works for us, remember? I am an American and I have a voice and so do you. Use it! Tell them, ENOUGH! Write your congress members and tell them what you want. I've written to all five of the weasels who bailed on the public option and they are Bill Nelson, Ken Conrad, Blanch Lincoln, Tom Carper and yes, Max Baucus. Any of those names sound familiar? They should. Some of them are the ones that stopped healthcare reform in the 90's. Hmmm ... what is it they are so afraid of, I wonder? I've also written to all of the TN Senators and Representatives and I've put them on notice. If you vote down what is best for Tennesseans, start packing your boxes. Healthcare is too important an issue to not speak out on. Speak up, be bold and tell them how you feel! I want a public option and I want it now! Not in four years down the road, I want a public option and I want it now!
