You might recall that Harper's aide lied to the media during last year's presidential campaign. The aide falsely said that one of Obama's economic advisors called up Harper's folks to tell them that the discussion of renegotiating NAFTA by Obama was just campaign trail BS. Turned out Harper's folks called Obama's guy and he said no such thing.

Josh's post on the front page brings up a guy named Markoplos who has been telling the SEC Madoff was running a Ponzi Scheme for years. Was the SEC compliant in the scheme? Will anyone investigate? I hear Madoff was very well connected politically and I see Chucky Schumer has given back contributions from him. Will anyone investigate to see if anyone pulled strings for him?

This is pretty damning stuff. Markopolos tried but no one would listen. Read that document. He lays out how it was totally obvious to many in the industry that Bernie Madoff couldn't possibly be getting the returns he had been getting legally.

The wife and I are in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. We live in a suburban area and there are 1837 registered voters in our district. In the primaries there were only about 3 electronic voting booths. If turnout is high, today is gonna suck for the nice old ladies running the polls at Bethel Wesleyan Church. My district is pretty republican so Im not sure how turnout will be. I think republicans are going to be discouraged and turnout won't be so good here. I am prepared for the semi worst though with this early bird crap.

The local dem dipshits didn't even put anyone up against the republican candidates for state house, state senate or local judge. The only republican I get to vote against besides McCain/Palin(not to mention a write in for these undisputed locals, which I'll do) is Lindsey Shamm. How the hell do you not contest seats when there is a good shot you can win or make a good showing with people just selecting Dem down the line???????

There are two state ammendments up for vote that are asking permission to invest state and local goverment pension funds in the stock market. No friggin lie.

I am pissed at the Dem Party here in South Carolina. If the national org poured some cash into SC this state could go blue. This state is generally poor as hell and people vote against their interests out of ignorance. The Dem Party has allowed thieves and liars to supposedly hold the morality/christian/conservative position. There isn't shit morally correct, christian like or fiscally conservative about these jackals. I guarantee you plenty of Repub fatcats would have had coronaries at the site of Dems campaigning here like in NC.

Anyway, rant over. Time to go. This is the first time it feels like I have to vote or else.  If somehow McCain wins I feel the end of the world(the end of this American part at least) is here. I hope today is peaceful and everyone can vote without the fuckery we have witnessed in the past 2 elections.

I am constantly hearing about how turnout might be low on the Dem side since Obama has a lead but I never hear that applied to the GOP. It is the GOP that is demoralized and set to lose a major number of positions besides POTUS. You actually have some repubs pretending to be Dems in Oregon. Why has no one discussed the possibility of an even larger blowout than polls project based on the GOP's defeated state? Is it totally unlikely that Joe The Plumber will see McCain 15-20 points down on Nov4 and after a week of hearing how there is no chance in hell McCain will win from the media decide to drain another septic tank or smoke a few more Marlboros and listen to Rush Limbaugh appease his inner racist instead of lining up to vote?

Here's video of McCain at a town hall meeting listing all the great stuff about the new GI Bill.

That's pretty interesting considering he actively opposed the bill.  See him on the campaign trail speaking out against it here.

Is this story old? I never heard of it until today. If it isn't old why isn't it front page? Obama and Dems/the left in general need to hit McCain on this.
