Dear Rahm Emanuel,
Please run for Mayor of Chicago (and get the hell off of Obama's staff)! Please, please! And take your lousy advice with you!
Sincerely,

Hopefully, many of you were able to see the HBO documentary MY TRIP TO AL-QAEDA with Lawrence Wright, author of THE LOOMING TOWER last night. Josh recently mentioned how impressed he was with the book, THE LOOMING TOWER. This documentary is equally impressive. It's a must see, especially with the anniversary of 9/11 coming up.

Frank Rich and Jane Mayer explain it all.

John Boehner and I finally agree on something aside from tans look good. Fire Geithner and Summers. Of course, I want to replace one of them with Paul Krugman. Betcha Boehner doesn't agree with that!
PS Thank you, Sarah, for reminding me to say "Betcha!"

In answer to Josh' request for books on 9/11, I would recommend the Pulitzer Prize winning book by Lawrence Wright, THE LOOMING TOWER: AL- QAEDA AND THE ROAD TO 9/11.

The Senate got the 60 votes needed to pass an extension of unemployment benefits. This is a great thing for millions of human beings and a great stimulus to our economy. Now the next great humanitarian thing and stimulus to our economy would be to pass money to help our beleaguered states to balance their budgets.
June 25, 2010, 6:38PM
Time to start screaming people - the Republicans and some Democrats have cut off money for the long term unemployed. Money to the unemployed is spent immediately - it is a direct stimulus. We as a supposedly civilized nation can't abandon people. This is not even to mention the money that won't be going to teachers and state governments. Pennsylvania was depending on $285 million. Now there will be massive layoffs, reducing tax revenues and making our situation worse. We are in for a bad time. If your Rep and/or Senator voted againstthis spending for the unemployed and the states give them an earful. This is not the way to revive a bad economy.

Paul Krugman is losing it because world governments are considering spending cutbacks before we get a true economic turnaround. His points are clearly made and obviously correct. What can be done? See his latest blog entry.

Paul Krugman says that the deficit hawks are winning the argument, and that budget cuts are coming just when they will make the situation worse. I know the TPM budgets hawks will start crowing about this. They are wrong and Krugman is correct.
Read his piece.

Am I allowed to be perturbed that Obama is pushing off shore drilling and nuclear power. That was not what I voted for. From W, I would expect this - not from Obama.

"Bipartisan Jobs Agreement Falls Apart Almost Instantly"
Oh, geez! What a shocker! Who could have seen that coming? Isn't a shame the country has to put up with this crap? Why, oh why, didn't we elect a Democratic majority in the House and Senate. Why, oh, why, didn't we elect a Democratic President.
Wait a minute! We did!
Have you ever seen such a group of spineless politicians who won't fight back?
Nah, why fight back? Let's just keep trying to appease the Republican minority, so that they can block everything the Democrats want to do so that they can increase their power in the next Congress. Incredibly, this strategy is working!
When are Reid, Pelosi, and Obama going to wake up?
January 26, 2010, 8:29PM
When I see that Paul Krugman and Robert Reich are apoplectic about Obama's idea of a domestic budget freeze for economic reasons (let alone humanitarian reasons - the military/industrial complex would be untouched by the freeze), I am reminded of Jay Leno's question to Hugh Grant after Grant's involvement with a prostitute: "What the hell were you thinking?"

What a great decision by the Supreme Court. We can now have even more manipulation of our government by the special interests. Government of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich will evidently not vanish from the face of the United States any time soon.

Ok, Coakely lost. Now pass the damn health care bill any way you can. If the Dems get kicked out of power at least we will have accomplished that much, imperfect as it is. And if the Republicans try to repeal it, we will filibuster the crap out of that.

Ok, it's time for some Sunday fun (at least for me - a despondent Eagles football fan). I got this idea from a Facebook friend.
What's the worst movie you've ever seen?
Mine is I SAILED TO TAHITI WITH AN ALL GIRL CREW with Gardner McKay (which my wife liked because she thought Gardner McKay was cute). FRED CLAUS is my second worst.
So what is your most horrendous movie?
