I think he's right that many McCain 'supporters' will sit this one out, and that the result will be more emphatic than the poll numbers suggest. What do you southern bloggers think?

I think you're correct. Undecided voters leaning toward McCain will probably save themselves a half a gallon of gas and stay home on election day.
