A view from England
I live in the UK, but I've been following the US elections with intense interest for months (thank you TPM!). I really do feel the whole future of our benighted planet turns on this result, and the conduct of the campaigns has only heightened that sense.
I find McCain-Palin's political views obnoxious and repellant, but actually this goes way beyond political arguments. What they represent - and there is no other word for it - is evil. These people will say anything that might help get them elected. They have no regard for truth, or morality, or the values of democracy.
The consequence they are now flirting with is so dreadful that I can't bear to name it. But if something were to happen to Obama there would be chaos across the US - which just might play out in their favour. There is no other explanation I can find for the blatant hate-mongering that they are now resorting to.
It's time for all decent Americans, of whatever political persuasion, to speak out, and denounce McCain's vicious campaign of lies and innuendo.
