Negro Uprising
Michael Steele is pro choice. His stint as RNC chair now has the life expectancy of a mayfly. He positions himself as the most outspoken mainstream republican in a vast array of people who believe what he believes, but are afraid Rush will crap all over them if they express the truth.
When the inevitable Rushpublican Revolution falters, Mr. Steele will find himself well served by the massive publicity given his viewpoints, since they happily coincide with the vast majority of republicans, just not the few nutjobs who have seized control of the microphones......
Enjoy.

I hear your points, but...
"Negro"?
Really?

It was for effect, but I truly believe that many Republicans believe this way. Remember the term 'uppity' being applied to Obama?
It wasn't that long ago that being Republican meant being CONSERVATIVE, and not in the Christian Coalition definition. The only hope they have as a party of the future is to embrace the present.
Enjoy.

For what "effect?"
I admit I followed the link because of the title, and I revel in my own political-incorrectitude. So, it's not as if I am offended by the usage, but it strikes me as a borderline-nonsensical, trifling-yet-incendiary non sequitur.
What's your point? Sure, Steele's a poseur, a fraud and a general douchebag (and, hooray for that, by the way) but I don't see where either "negro" or "uprising" have anything to do with the post.

I understand your questioning the word Scientific but I grew up during the era when we went from Colored to Negro. Now that we've moved on, I'm thinking Negro may be the appropriate term for Mr. Steele (and I'm being generous) since Black or AA would give him more gravitas than I think he deserves.
My mom always said we shouldn't air our dirty laundry but Michael Steele really rubs me the wrong way. IMO he is a total fake. It would not surprise me if he adopted the Republican ideology as a hustle more than a principal.

Er, yeah, I think you just defined the word "slur" there?

ummm...calling someone "negro" is being generous? I didn't realize that there was a hierarchy amongst the terms. I think you might want to rethink your position.

I understand why my position would be upsetting but as a person of color, it's the way I feel about Mr. Steele. Yes, Negro is most definitely a generous term from my perspective, considering the many alternatives running around in my head.
I also understand the hypocrisy in what I have said since I can't be sure, if a non person of color were to say the same, I wouldn't be offended. Although I would like to think I would not be. Especially if I felt the intent was honesty and not malice.
In spite of the, we are the world, we are all the same, we are all human speech we so often here, I don't buy it. Yes, we are all human but we are not the same. We tend to be quite unique in our cultural as well as environmental differences and that's a wonderful thing. I would love to see people embracing, accepting and taking the time to understand those differences as oppose to trying to make us all one. In my non monolithic world, Mr Steele is not someone to be proud of, nor do I feel he deserves my respect.
The insult is not directed to anyone on the forum or any particular race, creed, color, religion etc. My contempt is strictly for Mr. Steele. It's my honest appraisal of the man. I'm not big on PC behavior. I find it quite disingenuous.
I respect those that may disagree with my position but I hope I have explained myself and the context in which the remark was made.

The vast majority of repubs agree with Rush. The moderates are a minority in the party.

The majority of Republicans is no longer "vast."
Thank God.

Let me know if you're black. Then I'll make a decision on "enjoy."

I don't know. I think Josh has it closer: the guy says what he thinks his audience wants to hear. He's been so wishy-washy that his more rational statements really don't stand out from his totally wingnut ones ... he just comes off as disingenuous. I think he's going to end up pleasing nobody.
