Go on the Congressional Record for the Impeachment of Cheney

Blogging actionists, here's a quick and do-able idea from ImpeachCheney.org. Each day that Congress is in session, Rep. Dennis Kucinich wants to put the name of everyone who supports Dick Cheney's impeachment in the Congressional Record!  That includes me.

Background: The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when Congress is in session and is fully searchable.

Dennis: Every day that Congress is in session, Rep. Kucinich will submit 5 single-spaced pages of names with states, which is the daily limit under House rules.

What you can do: to be included, all you need to do is submit this petition.

Follow up: After you Email them, you might also want to send them a letter like this one.

Rationale: Documentation of Cheney's Offenses and Contitutional attorney Fein's argument.

KISS (Keep it simple sweetie): Support H RES 333. [Clarification: it is absolutely not H R 333].

Over Labor Day weekend, I will be laboring  to put together our education center for September 17th Redress Day. Kindly email me, or check in here, with your updates and thinks, I'll be around.

Yours on the Congressional Record,

Tish

Impeachment Quickie: Conyers Says Impeachment Not Off His Table!

Here's a 3-day follow-up to Dweller on the Threshold.  I'm rushing out the door to school, impeachment watchers, but this is news.

US Congressman John Conyers said in Pontiac, Michigan, on August 28, 2007 that, while Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi may have impeachment off her table, he has NOT put impeachment off HIS table!

Will try to check back in here at lunch recess -- it's back to school night, too, so I'm multi-tasking last minute details. Looking forward to your thinks, wow!

Peachie Thursday,

Tish

With thanks for the report to Ann Wright, Colonel, US Army Reserves (retired), AfterDowningStreet.org

Astrobuzz: Red Moon Eclipse!

I just ran in, skywatchers!  It's between the mid and total. Moon is red now with a teeny bit of white! Here's a NASA page.  Video here.

Going back out, amazing the stars are so much brighter here now, too, and they are usually fairly bright, wow. Oh, wow!

Happy eclipse day, my luminaries,

Tish

Backstory: It's the first full lunar eclipse in seven years, last one in 2000. Sun, earth and earth all align and moon passes right through earth's shadow. Cherokee friend of mine just phoned, said it's an old sign, he'll explain it to me later, early peoples thought it was "appearance" of someone from heaven ...many other cultural interpretations exist, a French king dropped dead when he saw it.

Pix of the bloody red color.

Last night comment:

Spectacular Eclipse File

No analogy to government, but a trip down to earth for a quick astrobuzz. On August 28, the Moon will plunge through Earth's shadow, and the United States' West Coast sees the best show.  I am in California and I will be camping out in my backyard. I am so excited and I assigned it to my 4th graders for homework!

Dweller on the Threshold: Conyers

There's news and a question, impeachment watchers. On Saturday, August 25 in Newark The People's March for Peace, Equality, Jobs and Justice brought thousands of impassioned pleas:

for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. It also brought Congressman John Conyers to the stage to promote the very popular National Health Insurance Bill, H.R. 676.

While the discussion of health insurance for all and the great congressman from Michigan were well-received with cheers and applause, the cries for impeachment took center stage. In what has become routine now, Conyers fed into the momentum asking "What should we do?" "IMPEACH!" cried the crowd. "What should we do?" "IMPEACH!" and so it was repeated. The congressman went on to declare that we needed to bring back Rumsfeld and put him on trial and the big question was to decide who ought to go first. "Cheney!" shouted the crowd enthusiastically. [emphasis mine]

As Cheryl Biren-Wright reports in Dancing with Conyers, Conyers acknowledges that as chair of the judiciary, he holds the power to propel the impeachment process forward. Yet, at the march, he queried protesters if they realize the dire [presumably political] consequences of failed impeachment.  The representatives replied that they understood the consequences of not moving on it and that is where the real danger was. The NJ Impeach Group explained that the success would be acquired through defending the Constitution and standing up to an administration that has committed a felony and grave abuses of power. They reiterated that this was the will of the people and that a growing number of democratic constituents are positioned to walk away from the party if the democrats do not hold this administration accountable.

On Saturday, Conyers stood firm in 100 degree heat on his "dire consequences" platform, begging the question of why he continues to urge crowds to support taking out Bush and Cheney before their term expires.

The question becomes, at what point will John Conyers, age 78, reach his personal epiphany that the consequences of not pursuing justice outweigh his fear of failure? In Jungian terms, he has now become America's archetype of the dweller on the threshold.

He's a friend. He's gridlocked. Push him through the doorway.

See you soon,

Tish
