Palin has no clue. About basketball or politics. If you aren't willing to mix it up in the paint with the big guys and step up your game, its over.
I think she very much wanted to play on her terms. When that didn't work out she said screw this. Alaska is a very small stage in relative terms. Stepping onto the national stage and getting pretty well battered around could easily sour anybody's love of the game. Only very special people have what it takes to play at that level.

Palin is unread, unlearned and untested. I have never heard someone dumber than her reach national significance.

But she really knows nothing. I have yet to hear anything dumber than her speech of resignation.
She is trailer trash who just signed a multimillion dollar book deal.

I've always viewed W's as a case of, consistency being the hobgoblin of a small mind, but Palin....WOW! I already miss the days when she merely baffled us with bullshit. Her rambling, lying, psychotic episode-like abomination of a resignation speech today proves how bad McCain's judgement was - and which, it continues to be.

She shot down her political future when she resigned. At least Nixon's resignation speech was intelligible.

One would like to think that Palin is merely serving as a self-sacrificing role model for Mark Sanford, showing him that resignation really is the better path.
But of course we're talking about the child exploiting/ helicopter wolf hunter here. Largesse, much less decency, is not her strong suit.
Oh, and also --- how can she continue to commit grammatical errors of the most basic variety? Errors of agreement in number between subject and verb???? Eewwh -- for that alone.

Quayle was nowhere near as intelligent as Palin. He was significantly less qualified for the vice-presidential nomination than she was. A couple of years in the Senate and a career as a nepotistic frat boy.
At least Palin made herself, in contrast to Bush and Quayle. Though I agree she's an ignoramus, she is NOT stupid, and is possessed of ambition and animal cunning. She has it all over Bush and Quayle. Don't misunderestimate her.

She was smart enough to get a 3400 square foot luxury house on the shore of a beautiful lake, just by becoming mayor of a near non-existent town. Of course that 3400 square foot house may shrink to a 60 square foot prison cell shortly. So, maybe she still has some learning to do.
