AT&T, Carriers Can't Be Sued in Domestic Spying Cases

Another nail in the coffin for democracy. Government and big business covering their asses with zero regard for the outcome. Obama / Bush SSDD.

thanks again Dems! Our beloved progressive Democrat leaders (obama, hoyer, rockefeller, pelosi, reid)really hit a home run with this one.

I love the trend where government commits felonies, and then passes retroactive laws to immunize them and their coconspirators from prosecution. Nothing like the smell of "rule of law" in the morning!

I was a little disappointed by Walker on this, but it seems he sort of left the door open.

So far all we have gotten from this administration and a democratic congress is the persons who have harmed this country have been let off the hook. Can you say no accountability? This is coming down to our political elites, democrats and republicans alike, are no different. Geithner hasn't done a thing, single payer is dead, spying on Americans is just fine, were playing kissy face with Muslims, jobs are going away by the bucketfull and wages are in the toilet. Fucking beautiful.

Yes, thanks to the Congressional Democrats who whored themselves to the telecommunications giants in exchange for some campaign cash. Sadly, the list of Congressional D's who sold out our rights and protected the lawbreakers includes our President. And it is the President's DOJ that swing the hammer and drove the last nails in the coffin.

I don't think it a coincidence that in the end the working middle class of this country has gotten the short end of the stick on everything. Virtually nothing is working out in our favor. Our government and big business have stolen us blind at every turn. Our freedom our money, everything.

I forgot to mention it occured to me that this hasn't gotten much air from the media. Me thinks this ruling was conveniently timed with Obamas trip. We are being scammed big time. Obama is slick alright.

Democracy is not postpartisan and it certainly isn't centrist.

This is true. Where I have an issue is you can't just bury your head in the sand and pretend yesterday didn't happen just because it's inconvenient. Throwing justice overboard for expediency leaves a lot of loose ends hanging out and falsifies everything this country stands for.

I don't know how to view this except to say it gives the appearance of some of our major public institutions being seriously broken.

Over the last three decades or so this nation has suffered some setbacks of consequence that bear some serious scrutiny. If you don't do that it leaves the mechanisms in place that allowed for these kinds of things to occur. That means the country remains at risk. I fear that without making some course corrections we become subject to repetitive abuses of power that will almost assuredly occur and end in a similar result, or worse, in the future.

Where we have a legal infrastructure in place that is able to be aritrarily ignored is clearly a dysfunctional state of being and arguably modifies the democratic formulation of governance. Our elected officials are legally obliged to uphold the law and where they don't it creates an awfully hard to ignore and dangerous precedent.

I just don't see how our republic can survive where the idea of the rule law is a pretense rather than a fact. I don't think that's even a practical possibility.

I wrote that April 19 was the day that Obama killed hope. Lots of heat from that post. Actions speak (much) louder than words, especially in the case of Obama.

Money talks and bullshit walks.
