Red without a choice
In looking at the U.S. Attorney purges there gives the appearance of discrimination along racial lines at the DOJ. Extending DOJ policies across as many federal prosecutorial jurisdictions as possible in order to alter voter participation seems to be part of the agenda that is being sought. A number of the attorneys asked to leave served in red or southern states. I think there is concern in high level GOP circles, because of the erosion of Bush's popularity and the Iraq war, that they needed to move to be sure to retain red state voting majorities in 2008. Installing persons in positions that could actively pursue federal cases that could slant the public view is a piece of the overall strategy that seemingly is being undertaken by the WH and GOP. The larger scheme that is coming into view strongly suggests a coherent strategy, engineered, probably in the WH and more specifically by Rove, to influence the 2008 election in the hope of stemming somewhat the bloodbath that I am sure they know is going to inundate the GOP. We already know that the reason for the purges have no merit. This leaves few, if any, alternatives open for consideration about why these purges occurred. Upon examining the individual positions and who the appointees are and what their credentials are it becomes very difficult not to see what appears to be a unified plan to influence 2008 voter turnout. I don't see an alternative conclusion that adds up.
