Let them run up this narrative of a tightening race....
Please, let them do it(actually there isn't much we can do about that, lol). Let them say the race is going to be incredibly close. Let them say it is tightening to the point where McCain might overtake Obama, let them cherry pick some polls that play to that narrative without putting any of these polls into context, and let them go with the "horserace" mantra full speed ahead. There are only 2 more days left folks. None of that matters. When that map looks like an "Invasion of the smurfs" movie they won't be able to spin a thing. They can say the race is tightening because it will only motivate ALL OF US to GOTV as best we can and when we do, and we flex our muscle by changing that map and winning states that they would have never guessed we would have won, they won't have anything to say, and if they do, we won't be able to understand with feet in all their mouths. This isn't about counting chickens or choosing drapes. This is about my confidence in the work of this campaign, the blogs, the volunteers and this hunger of the American people. That's why with only two days left, all of this lame spin I brush off, because they won't be able to spin this landslide(even voter suppression is failing) and the won't be able to stop it as well.

Do you think the McCain campaign is pushing the tightening line in the hope it will discourage their voters from taking a pass and choosing to not vote?

They are trying to keep their supporters from staying home in the wake of an epic defeat. The MSM is playing up the narrative right along with them, which is fine with me since when that wave comes that spin won't be able to stop it.

It's their gotv strategy for mccain/palin supporters and their special version of waterboarding for Obama supporters.

If it IS only spin, I love it, because it will mean Obama voters, specially the young ones, staying in those horrendous lines. Whereas if everyone believed Obama has it made, they'd be more likely to get fed up and go home.

Agree completely but here in GA NO ONE is slacking. We had 3x the number of volunteers we needed today and sent folks to the GOTV HQ's next to us to help and still had more folks come and we simply had them do door hangers....
The black folks in our precincts and those volunteering are so fearful of this election being stolen that they are committed to not being stopped this time.....I am sure that is true everywhere.
This is now about knocking it out of the park!!!
Barack had a conference call last nite with over 20,000 team leaders and told them he isn't sleeping and neither can we and on election day that we needed to be at every polling place with water, food and anything else people need so they stay in line and vote...
Yes We Will!!!

It is pretty bizarre right now that the interests of Obama, McCain, and the mainstream media are all exactly congruent: try to make the race look as tight as possible. Thinking about it makes me go cross-eyed.

Ya know...we almost have to feel sorry for them. I mean,.really. They have nothing. They have never had anything. They are really bad jokes, actually. Barack and his team are not playing. They are serious.

Here in PA we are not assuming it's a done deal, either. Polls "always" tighten as E.D. approaches, and McCain/Palin have been camped out in PA for weeks. Our GOTV effort has been over the top, and still we're pressing on to the end.
Yes, the conference call last night had 20,000 in attendance. The New York phone banks are making hundreds of thousands of calls each day. A very impressive campaign. Canvassers from NY and NJ are supporting the local vols. Local vols are working their hearts out.
Good weather forecast for Tuesday, so standing on long lines won't be so bad.
Yes, we can, and we will!

I think the long lines we've seen with early voting have been due to a very limited number of polling places. There will be very many more polling places and voting booths available on Tuesday. I don't understand why MSM doesn't lay this out clearly. Also "vote by mail" is quite popular this year.
While it is possible that in the long run early voting and mail in votes will change precinct size and voting booth numbers per precinct, I don't see how States can have already cut back for this year.

They only have one more day folks, the wave is coming, and it looks even larger than I would have thought.
