I gurantee you Barack Obama doesn't go campaign for Jim Martin.
I am so sure about this I would bet hard earned cash on this. Any amount you would like if that is the case. The reason? Simple.....................coattails. If Obama were to go and campaign for Martin and Martin ends up losing, how will that look on Obama? It would slightly, at least for the short term, tarnish his appeal and if it doesn't tarnish his appeal it would look sort of embarrassing. Moreover, Obama is the President-Elect, aka the statesman, who is going to stay above the politics/fray and he doesn't want to change that image. So if anyone wants to take up my offer and if you disagree let me know. Your response will be interesting indeed.

I don't think that you've got a reasonable bet here, I think Obama is busier than a one-legged man at a free-for-all butt-kicking contest. I think that he'll do what he can for Martin, I just think he's constrained for time, now.

I read a report last week(?) that a number of Dem campaign workers already had flights booked to Georgia for this. I'm guessing that there might be a desire to work under the radar on this one.

I think he won't campaign for Martin because it won't help Martin. You do know this is Georgia, right? The voting demographic in the runoff may look very different from the one in the general. And Obama doesn't really have coattails there.
But it won't be because he doesn't care. If he thought it would help he would. But it won't help.

I'm going to guess there will be a good-sized effort by volunteers, as astral said, but yeah, Obama won't be down there.
If Obama wants to keep Lieberman in the party (or leave it up to the Dem caucus to decide), that's pretty damn above the fray if you ask me. If I were Obama, I couldn't see myself being able to look Lieberman in the eye without wanting to punch him in the face.

I change my mind, Obama will do what Bill Clinton did in 92, and that is go and help out in a runoff.
