Say it ain't so, BHO!

Well, looks like Obama, following the expert military advice of wanna be - general Joe Biden, instead of real life, actual general McCrystal, is prepared to flush 8 years of sacrifice and effort and surrender Afghanistan to the Taliban. Oh, they won't call it that, they just are prepared to cede control of large parts of the country to the Taliban, because, hey, they are no threat to us. Of course, the last time they controlled the country there was that little 9/11 incident. But I'm sure things will be different this time. Heck, they'll be too busy killing all those people that cooperated with us and stoning the little girls who went to school to get around to attacking us again for years. Months at least. No worries, another fine job Obama.

OK, then, chihuahua, let's have your detailed plan for victory - including what victory will look like, how to get there, and how we'll know when it has been achieved.

Put up or STFU.

user-pic

Gee, I think maybe I'd listen to the general I put in charge, instead of some dumb ass politician. Petraeus and McCrystal prepared a plan, why not let them implement it?

user-pic

Pretty much the non-answer I expected, you miserable, thin-skinned, chickenshite loser.

user-pic

No, it is the correct answer. I'm not a general, have not been to Army war college, and don't pretend (unlike Biden) to know better than the professionals. As far as what victory would like like, it would look like a peaceful Afghanistan that does not harbor terrorists, does not threaten us or it's neighbors, and allows it's citizens to live in freedom. There can be no Taliban allowed, much like we did not allow Nazi's to remain in power in Germany after the war.

user-pic

Bullshit.

It is an evasion plain and simple. You say you have not been to Army War College, you dodge and evade, and yet you think you know more than the President of the United States.

I suspect he has somewhat higher quality briefings than do you, and also that he is one hell of a lot sharper than a toothless chihuahua.

Blather and posture to your heart's content - you're just another PO'ed Republican who's having to face the (for you) unpleasant fact that a very much more capable and vastly smarter candidate - who is also a black man - won the presidency - and it just eats at you, doesn't it? Torments you no end. Burns away at your heart.

Face it, chihuahua, you can't cut it, you don't have the vision, the moral fiber, the intelligence, or the courage to make any sort of difference in the world, so all that's left to you is to try and tear down someone who is far superior to you in every measurable way.

EPIC FAIL!

You are a pathetic little loser, who is obviously infatuated with Obama to the point that you see him in messianic terms. He is nothing special, has excelled at nothing, accomplished nothing, other than convincing idiots like you that someone shouting 'hope and change' is a prophet to be followed blindly.

user-pic

What is really ironic in your statements is that if Bush had listened to the Army War College we would not have been militarily involved in Afghanistan to the degree that we have been the last eight years, and most certainly would not have invaded Iraq.

Be very careful what you ask for, because sometimes you get more than you were looking for.

user-pic

Sometimes life is a bitch, isn't it? And then BHO goes and gets the Nobel Peace Prize to really kick it in.

user-pic

Hmm gee you must really have the inside track Clever. Last I looked Obama hasn't said squat about what he going to do. In fat the firs meeting to go over in detail McChrystals plan with his joint chief's et al is tomorrow.

And frankly we flush Afghanistan 7 years ago when we took out eyes off the ball by going to Iraq.

Also name me one general on the ground in any war that the first thing they say is I can do it, just give me more. Sometimes they are right sometimes they are wrong. This is why their plans and ideas are reviewed.

And finally there is one assesement floating out there to truly get afghanistan under any type of reasonable control will take another ten years. You prepared for that?

user-pic

Good grief could there be any more typos in my above comment. Ugh! Apologies.

user-pic

Well, technically there could be more. :)

One of the reasons it would take a decade or better is because the Afghan government is freakin corrupt from top to bottom then back to the top again. It's kind of hard to win over the populace when the government you're propping up isn't exactly beloved by the people who need to decide whether to give aid to the Taliban or risk their lives (and the lives of those in their village) to stand up to the Taliban.

user-pic

My fave was 'in Fat..." ;-}

user-pic

Yea lately Clever tends to set me off. I type madly and hit submit.

Not a good idea . . . obviously ;)

user-pic

"We took out eyes off the ball" is pretty awesome as well.

Dick should have some special award for you today, Foxie. ;-)

user-pic

Is it shaped like a cone and sit on top of one's head?

user-pic

Hey, when you make a typo we can figure it out. WHEN THE FUCKING GENERALS MAKE A TYPO TENS OF THOUSANDS DIE.

I do hereby render unto you the Knightly Comment of the Day Award for this here TPMCafe Site, given to all of you from all of me and q (evidently) hahahaahah

You know, a 'little mad' aint so bad.

As the poets say!!

user-pic

So what set you off? I was responding to a story from the AP. I happen to think that it is a disgrace and a huge mistake to back off now and let the Taliban resume control. They are evil, and should be destroyed. I admit Bush made many mistakes, and his Afghan policy was one, but Obama is doing far worse now. First his change of the rules has caused casualties to skyrocket - more killed this year than in the first four combined. Now he wants to throw in the towel ? He campaigned on the importance of this war, he should listen to his generals or replace them.

user-pic

My father has been to war college, and he has consistently told me that invading Afghanistan was a bad idea.

user-pic

I agree. I would have preferred to simply provide air support for the Northern Alliance and let them take over and run things after we blew up the Taliban and Al Quaeda. The State Dept always gets involved and screws things up with their nation building.
