We have the best health care in the world!

We have access to the best health care available anywhere, and at very affordable prices. The most advanced diagnostics and newest surgical techniques, and major operations cost only hundreds to one or two thousand dollars, max. We don't have insurance, the government doesn't pay for us. Our owners do. We are the pets of America. Maybe all these experts in government should look to our pet health care system and figure out why it works so well. There are no lawyers pumping up costs, no six figure malpractice insurance costs to recoup, no insurance fees and paperwork, no government regulations and paperwork, no staff required just to process paperwork. No, just doctor and patient. And it works, just like it used to for you humans.

works for me - close up the insurance companies. Then tell the doctors and hospitals that they can charge no more than the local vets.

Now, the bad news:(re pet healthcare) The price tags for these treatments can be astronomical—sometimes in the tens of thousands. According to the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association, Americans spent more than $9.4 billion for vet care in 2006. Most of us would do anything to save our pets, but with medical costs soaring, it’s not so simple. Imagine having to make the heart-wrenching decision to pay an exorbitant bill or allow the unthinkable—“financial euthanasia.”

Pet health insurance as an industry has grown by an average of 26% per year since 2001. There are over 800 companies offering pet insurance.

Not so clever.

Not clever by half..we are number 37th in the world for delivery of healthcare and 1st in premium costs!

We're also #1 in responsiveness.

The OECD ranking, ful of its own caveats and caution for use, is not a reason enough to let the government barge in and turn health insurance into yet another income shifting schemes.

You can argue for achieving coverage for those who do not have health insurance and that would be fair and just.

However, I fail to see how pointing to a Government-run Medicare that's on the verge of collapse due to cost you decry is a convincing argument for more government.

For PETS, though? This is a bulldog talking, after all.

Odd country where an animal can get better, cheaper health care than a human being.

If one wants to compare human beings though... perhaps the World Health Organization might be a good place to start.

Or if that socialist organization isn't American enough for you, try the University Medical School Library at the University of Indiana. http://www.medlib.iupui.edu/body.cfm?id=73

Scroll down you'll get to the global stuff eventually.
