Disco making a comeback!!
Well, now that Obama has completed his transformation into Jimmy Carter with his totally ineffectual handling of the Somali pirates, coupled with his wild spending spree guaranteed to bring back the 70's inflation, it is surely just a matter of time until disco makes a comeback! Beat the rush, start making the mirrored balls now!!

Happy Easter CB. (Was hoping you would have exchanged your cap today for an Easter Bonnet (or at least sported a spring flower on top!).
Best to you and yours.

Happy Easter to you also, hope all is well. Looks like the Navy finally took charge and solved this problem a little while ago. Obama needs to learn from this to ignore the state dept and FBI in these matters. A quick solution is usually the best one.

I am grateful that the Captain is alive and seemingly well.
I am not going to presume that the actions taken could have or should have been done better/differently. We all learn from experiences and hopefully use that knowledge in the future.
So much of the issues today are in 'unchartered waters'. There are many paths to choose.
That said, I'm glad our paths convened today.

Oh, so it was Obama's "ineffectual handling" of the situation until the situation came to a good end, and then it was the Navy that did it all right.
Bulldog, I'll hand you one thing, you repubs are consistent. May I suggest something to you? Thanks:
You don't KNOW how this got solved; you don't KNOW which combination of elements of our government solved this mess; and you SURE don't know what hand Obama played in this either.
So your only remaining complaint is that it wasn't quick enough, although most hostage situations do better over time because the hostage-takers run out of steam and have time to think of consequences rather than going on pure adrenalin. I was actually involved in a hostage situation many years ago when I worked in an ER in DC. (I was not a hostage, but some prisoners took the warden hostage and accompanied him to my ER when he faked a heart attack). I talked to the police at length about it -- it was definitely a creepy experience, because the prisoners were right there with us -- the main point the negotiators drove home was to drag everything out as far as possible, and not to accelerate actions or emotions, because that produces the best outcome.
It is tiresome to hear over and over that everything that is wrong is Obama's fault, and when it is taken care of, then you deny him the praise he is due. You know, the Navy is part of that group of people over which Obama is Commander-In-Chief.

I'm pretty sure the Navy did not act without a word first from the CinC through Gates or otherwise.

The situation is far from resolved. The SEAL snipers, under orders from the Bainbridge cmdr, ended the hostage scenario. Reports indicate that the DOD asked for permission to use force, which was granted after 5 days. It was not a plan formulated by the WH. The pirate issue remains. Obama has to implement a policy to eliminate them, not just deal with the consequences.

Man CB. I hate it when you conservatives try to make a case that DISCO ever went out of style. Apologies to Marvin Gaye. ;)

How embarrasing for you, Dog.

NO, I'm glad it was resolved. I'm glad Obama listened to the DOD. Now he needs to take the lead and end the pirate menace for good. There are 2 main ports under their control. He needs to take action, and be decisive. This is not a talk - talk scenario.

As an aside, I am also critical of GWB on this issue. He failed to do anything also.

Too bad, Doggy. Your favorite president insured that the US wouldn't have the resources to go after real threats when he invited the Iraqi insurgents to "bring it on."
Speaking of which, Pres. Obama's statement about the situation sounded a lot like he was similarly challenging the pirates. You must love this guy. He comes on a little bit more like GWB every day.

You can't possibly have any idea what you are talking about.

If disco makes a comeback they'll have to deal with these guys, who have been known to employ disco balls as weapons. Just say 'no' to reanimating the Disco Zombie from the dead...
