Out here at my fortified compound in the High Desert of New Mexico we have a lot going on. Why; herself will be here in the next 48 hours and Big Bill is growing a beard. (Well that's the rumor anyway!) Joe Monahan, one New Mexico's senior political writers, wrote:
Barack Obama fired the first shots in the New Mexico Democratic presidential battle by unveiling TV ads here ...
What I find most interesting about the Obama ads is the subject--Health Care. Evidently, they are doing some homework. What is Big Bill's big bill in the current session of the New Mexico sate legislature? Health care! Is the Obama ad a calculated measure of support for Bill Richardson to cultivate his endorsement? Or does the Obama campaign know it has his endorsement coming? Is anything flying under the radar we haven't heard?
I have read some discussion in the blogosphere about the divide between Hispanic and African-American vote, as evidenced in the the Nevada caucus. How would a Big Bill endorsement play in the Hispanic community? Big Bill's got a lot of street cred in the Hispanic/Latino community, but would it translate to a meaningful shift in Hispanic support for Obama?
Difficult to say, but stay tuned.
