Having strenuously and painstakingly attempted to run an above-race ( some have called it post-racial ) campaign which nearly succeeded before the Clintons decidedly embarked on a systematic racialization of the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama is fully cognizant of the onerous task that lies ahead as the Republicans sharpen their knives for an overkill premised on their need to highlight Obama's racial identity as a black man. Rev. Jeremiah Wright has thus become their most valued weapon toward the achievement of that fundamental goal. Moreover, the "Muslim" label often tagged on Obama by Republican fringe groups on behalf of John McCain is all designed to construe to the often gullible and malleable electorate a co-ordinated message carefully caliberated to encapsulate an exotic and unAmerican imagery. Hence they are using Wright for no other reason than to remind voters that Obama is black. Obama's wife is being subjected to similar attacks on a daily basis and for the same reasons. This is part and parcel of their overall racist strategy congenial to their political culture. This is race-baiting of the first order the Republican and their conservative allies are accustomed to. These are the same elements with a history of vigorous opposition to the civil rights. They will not rest until Obama has been effectively disabled politically and rendered utterly unelectable.

During the current election cycle it seems we are poised at the threshold of the war of the airwaves far exceeding in filth anything we have seen in recent times. More so because due to his constrained resources, John McCain is probably going to feel obliged to rely more and more on the 527s for the kind of attacks against Barack Obama McCain himself would'nt find in tune with his integrity and moral discretion, and had recently renounced negative advertising, declaratively asserting that his campaign would not engage therein. Now it seems McCain has reversed himself as he now claims he has no control over these groups, just at the very moment Obama has instructed donors not to give money to progressive 527s, and thus tying his hands behind his back. This is what this amounts to. Conservative groups will have the battlefield to themselves unchallenged, with far devastating consequences for the Obama campaign than has yet been fathomed. This argues, then, for Obama to review and rescind his self-incapacitating decision notwithstanding the fact that there are sound reasons behind it. But they cannot trump the fact the 527s remain an invaluable assert to both the progressives and the conservatives. We can muzzle our own progressive allies at our own peril. 

Unlike the Republican Party which is still mired in a primitive state of racial prejudice, the Democratic Party, while recently it exhibited internal and subtle incidents of racial discontent, it has for the most part done its damndest best toward racial harmony, never mind that there are still within the party some elements who really should be with the Republicans. That is where clearly they belong. Contrary to what they would have us all believe, quite a sizable segment of Hillary's supporters who profess to be genuine Democrats, but threaten to vote for John McCain if she did not get the Democratic nomination are in fact Republicans who crossed over to vote for Hillary to create mischief that would either put Hillary on top, or for that matter, prolong the primaries into the Democratic Convention. Having failed to realize both goals, are now intent on orchestrating a disguised racially motivated anti-Obama campaign within the Domocratic, with the overall objective of weakening Barack and strengthening McCain, all for the purpose of creating conditions for the re-emergence of Hillary, come Denver Convention. With this in mind, then, it would be naive to assume that this is without the encouragement of Hillary herself, much less her blessings. Other than the flimsy excuse she has given about doing it for her daughter, why would she still be holding firm on her delegates? Why not release them to Obama if she really means her declarative statement of support for Obama? Well, clearly she believes something cataclysmic could preponderate and shift the political dynamics in her favor. After all this is the woman who prognosticated about an assisination. Of whom? You can draw your conclusion.
