Israel Must Explain Why It is Unwilling to Listen To Iran
Israel implied Obama and the US would appear weak if the United States spoke with Iran. The Israels have not adequately explained why they have lost hope despite the mandate for change.
Obama should (politely) ignore Israel's meaningless caution. The burden is on Israel to show why she is unwilling to listen to Iran.
Israel has not made a strong case for deafness nor for her double standard on hope. Ironically, by calling Obama, Israel shows it values talking. Israel has the hope that an exchange of ideas will influence others. Why not the same with Iran, Israel?
Israel must be ready to listen to the US-Iranian discussions. More forgeries about Iran show Israel isn't interested in reality.
Isreal is reported to have (implicitly) advised Obama against talking with Iran:
Israel is not taking responsibility for the truth: That Israel wants the US to continue with arrogant, lawless activity. This has nothing to do with perceptions about the United States or Obama, but about the Israeli efforts to manipulate others using false information, insinuation, and illusions.
A nation like Israel that "warns" others, but those warnings are not backed by credible facts, loses credibility. Despite this loss of credibility, Isreal points to it's military (defeats) as a reason for reacting to Israel. Israel has not made the case, but created another (illusory) smokescreen. We voted for change, not more of the pre-Iraq-invasion deceptions.
Israel's implicit position of "not talking" with Iran is flawed. The Iranians have not been afforded the chance, nor have the Israel's demonstrated, that talking with the United States is fruitless. Similarly, the Israelis have not proven that listening to Iran and the United States is unproductive.
Israel Carrying PNAC Bucket
Israel is making a public statement because the Bush government wants to keep quiet about Iran: There is no imminent threat from Iran. The public needs to see the Iran NIE, then we might consider whether the Israeli comments should be taken seriously. We voted for change, not to remain Israel's military puppet.
What Obama Really Said About Iran
Before voting, the American public knew Obama's position on Iran and talking. Obama said relative to Russia Iran was not a serious threat. Obama should remind Israel of American-Russian history:

Isreal is reported to have (implicitly) advised Obama against talking with Iran:
Daily Mail: "Then Israel warned Obama last night that his claim that he was ready to open talks with Iran could be seen in the Middle East as a sign of weakness."The Israeli position makes a vague reference to someone else. We're not given enough information from Israel to know, "Who will view what as weak; and does this supposed perception matter?" The Isreali's supposed claim is imprecise.

Fact Check reports Obama's words on Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela: "They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying we're going to wipe you off the planet."Obama's detractors in Israel would like to goad Obama into taking action against Iran. This would ensure Israel is not held responsible for the disinformation behind a possible US military strike. That's not change but

Well, I'm sure the fact that:
1) Iran funds and trains Hezbollah and Hamas, and
2) Some Iranian officials and Hezbollah and Hamas have clearly expressed the desire to wipe Israel off the map.
Would have a lot to do with the Israeli point of view.

You'll need to provide a reliable source. This is not "clearly" anything:
Others say there were mis-translations, and the Iranians never said this. Here is another view, which your comment has not adequately addressed:
