I've been sending a list of spam the last few mornings and got a nice reply but so far nothing has been removed. I'm not seeing how hard it could be to delete the accounts that these posts are generated from. willsmith and brucedavenport have been posting this crap for days and they still have active accounts. Why?

sm,
Agree! What really gets me is the ads that say
"Tell Pelosi (or Obama etc...) to save the secret ballot"
I don't get it, I would guess that the site operators have SOME kind of say over the kind of ads that get "fed" into the site.
As far as the post that are really ads I can't see anything that can be done other than deleting them once they are caught.
Hi there,
Thanks for your concern and comments. We're definitely listening - Josh included - and we're hopefully on top of it now.
A few notes:
-all the repeat spammers listed above now have their accounts disabled, as well as many others
-I've said this before, but it probably bears repeating, as it makes things difficult for killing spam and explains our situation: we can't ban IP addresses unless they leave a comment, so if you see any of these users leave a comment, please flag that for us.
-automatic registration has been disabled once again as a step to fixing this
-I'm sorry to say we are currently short-staffed at the moment, with 2 people who normally work on Cafe-related things out of the office, so our responses have probably been slower than usual lately...
How you can help!
Email me at versha @ talkingpointsmemo.com with reports of spam. We're caught up now, and with your help monitoring, I'll delete quickly in the future.
Thanks guys!
How about a spam button for us people who can't remember e-mail addresses for more than 15 seconds at a time?
Good call, amike.
It would be useful to have (the comments have the "Report Abuse" button), but in the meanwhile, you could just add the e-mail to your e-mail address book or, if you want a lower-tech solution, make a bookmark of mailto:email@address.com.
Or, I suppose, you could leave a comment on the article stating something like "the above post is spam, reported this comment because you cannot report posts" and then "Report Abuse" on your comment :)
