Thanks. Here's a bit of a disclaimer that I wrote before taking it down:
Before anybody writes inflammatory comments on this post for whatever reason, I have a comment to make. The purpose of this poem was simply to speak out against any form of marriage discrimination between two consenting adults. That's all. This may sound like Stephen Colbert saying something like "I don't see race," bur I don't see the qualities listed above as advantages or disadvantages. They're just a part of who people are. Yes, I know that sexual orientation is an altogether different characteristic than one's skin color. And yes, I agree that comparing a person's sexual orientation to race is a very different exercise from comparing being gay to, say, one's ability to walk or one's ability to see or whether orthe status of an AIDS diagnosis - and perhaps it's a trivial exercise at that. The whole point I'm trying to make is that marriage prejudice against two consenting adults who love each other is, in my opinion, wrong. I made sure to clarify this as my opinion on two consenting adults, as I don't believe young children are mature enough to make such a decision. And while some characteristics of one's identity are things that I would constitute as choices (such as religious preference) and others (such as race, sexual orientation, age, etc) are not, none of this matters to me. Marriage equality to me means that any two consenting adults, regardless of how they view themselves or how others view them, should be allowed to marry each other. Glad I cleared this up.

No. I could not read any bad things into your original post. No, I knew what you were doing. Besides I read your stuff all the time. I think it is funny.
I was just making the old joke. People used to say, some of my best friends are Jewish and then proceed into a rant about how terrible Jews were as if the first phrase made it ok to be biased.
No I liked this post. I recommended it.

Cool, I appreciate it. One can't be too careful, though, right?

I find your choice of labeling offensive!
The correct terms are "vertically impaired" and "horizontally impaired" respectfully.
;) lol

For me it boils down to their overarching excuse: "I'm against people but I'm not a sociopath."

Including someone who wants to marry his sister, brother, mother, or father?

Ah, the old slippery slope argument. If we let two consenting gay adults get married, well then we have to let men marry their sisters, or their mothers, or their dogs, and on and on and on.
Gay marriage is not the same thing as incest. Bringing incest up is a distraction in the bigger picture, because even if a man wanted to marry his sister and sued the state of California to let that be so, then the state of California would have to evaluate his claim, but it still doesn't make the exclusion of gay marriage right.
As long as we're talking about it, why would gay marriage lead to incest any more than straight marriage?
