Mon/Tues 2nd Chance Clearinghouse For Posts That Deserve Another Look - Updated Daily

This daily post is a clearinghouse for links to posts that either flew by too fast, didn't get the attention they deserved, or are so good they need to be up even longer...

ANYONE can link a post here, and we encourage you to do so. The post is only as good as its links. If you do add a link, please describe it briefly and tell us why it deserves another look.

As long as the archives are messed up, this is the only way to preserve good posts!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to rec this post, even if you don't read any of the links or add anything. It only works if it makes it to READER REC everyday. If it barely makes it, it gets bounced off and good links are lost.

Election Night Parties!!! You do like to party, don't you?

Back when I used to frequent slashdot (before the GOP troll pudge started spewing all over the site) we had a term I think you need to know about. Karma whoring. It means posting lots of stuff you think will get rec'd, just for the sake of getting rec'd.

I'm not trying to be harsh or rude, just that I am a bit turned off by seeing your post up there every day. It's my nature, can't help it.

Now, having said that, I actually do like your idea and it *is* useful to have a digest of gems that I might have missed. But maybe you should slow it down a bit? Do we really need one every day?

Maybe now, just before election it's OK and I'm overreacting. But maybe next week you could slow it down say to once or twice per week?

Just a thought. Feel free to ignore lil ol' me, everyone else does :-)

I think the basic point is if there's really good stuff falling off the lists and this daily is really reviving them so folks don't miss them, fine. But I must say, that period seems to have passed (I started to call for its denouement once before, but I was a slight bit premature with the site crashes and problems). Nowadays I don't see anything groundbreaking each day, and with personal recommends now working, people can just go look at which posts you recommended if they like your taste. I notice people are signing up to follow numerous bloggers, so they're already defining their preferences. So basically, if you see something you want your followers to see, recommend it.

A Little history...

Raider99 was the creator of this post, back when things were flying by really fast. He went on vacation and asked that someone take over for him. I had a little time on my hand, so I volunteered, and ended up adopting it.

It took awhile to get people accustomed to getting the post to "Rec" every day, so I hate to stop prematurely. I was thinking that when the archives started working again would probably be a good stopping point, but who knows when that will happen. It has been a couple of days since there has been any significant content, so I had already begun to wonder about its relevance.

Thank you so much for the input. The post is for the good of the "community" and not for any "personal glory" so when it is no longer an effective tool, it needs to go. In a couple of days I'll do a post asking for feedback from the group.
