Joe Scarborough Calls Out John McCain and Lindsey Graham!

"I don't believe what I just saw! " - Jack Buck calling Kirk Gibson's epic one-handed World Series home run

The nicest thing I can say about Joe Scarborough is that I think he actually believes the conservative clap trap that comes out of his mouth.  It's so bad for me that I skip over my preferred news source MSNBC when he's on.

Tomorrow I'm tuning in.  How is Scarborough going to follow this; today he took John McCain, and Lindsey Graham to the woodshed, and gave the a whooping, with a leather strap.  Ouch!

The piece starts with McCain and Graham, voices quivering, unconvincingly spouting Republican counterintuitive talking points on the Sunday talk shows, "the President needs to do more."

Then Joe,takes them to school shouting; if we do what McCain and Graham say, "we will undermine their cause.(Iran)"  He is officially pissed.  "It's so shortsighted I find it stunning!"

Mika is good, "I don't understand what they want him (Obama) to be doing?"

Scarborough picks up the ball and runs with it, "That's what I'm trying to figure out."  "What would John McCain, and Lindsey Graham, specifically have the president say?"  Touchdown!

Joe goes on to talk about the hate mail he's getting, someone dared to call him a "Liberal!"  (The offending e-mail has been forwarded to the FBI.)

Could it be that Joe as suddenly gained cognitive skills?  Is this a temporary disturbance in the force?  Is Joe Scarborough a mini Iran where Joe Scarborough is in a fight for his freedom from dictator and Supreme Leader, Joe Scarborough?

Decide for yourself.

morning joe goes off the reservation?

Don't fall for it! Tune in tomorrow at your own risk. He will return to his ignorant self. It's happened to me and let's just say, "fool me once......"

You've been warned.

I too am concerned... I am putting a cask of brandy around Murry's neck and tying a rope to his tail. Pray for me...

user-pic

He does make a good point about the empty opportunistic partisan bluster coming from McCain and Graham.

Scarborough trips over his own shoelaces though when he suggests it would do no good to go on a tirade about how Iran is the most evil country on the planet.

True, it would not do the people of Iran any good. But when you talk like that, you're painting entire countries in the simplistic 20th century colors of either good or evil.

Using that brush is a little hypocritical when you're a citizen of the country that overthrew Iran's very first democratically-elected leaders. And has tried to falsify nuclear weapons intelligence to justify starting a war with them.

No doubt Iran is lead by an oppressive regime.

But it's hard to be taken seriously when there isn't a modicum of humility in your view of the world, i

I generally don't agree with Joe but I remember he was very vocal and harsh in his criticism of the Bush Administration's response to Katrina. He was not only one of the first conservative commentators to do that he was one of the first TV commentators to do that period.

Like I said I don't always agree with Joe but I do respect him...he isn't just another partisan hack on cable. The man has some integrity.

user-pic

I agree.

I was floored in 2006 when he lambasted the Bush record, then said words to effect of, "And that is why we are going to lose the House on Tueday. And the Senate."

"And the Senate" was bold. And correct.

Remember Laurie Klausitus!

I tend to watch Joe in the morning when I get ready for work. Yes, he is a conservative, and his regulars tend to be conservative on the issue, and the left leaning guests tend to be just this side of the center, BUT if all the conservatives were like Joe and company, the idea of bi-partisanship would actually be something to realistically seek on some issues. Generally speaking, once one cuts through the goofball theaterics, he tends to be the sane conservative that one would hope for in a "two-party system" country. And I've seen him compliment Obama on more than one occassion (and he always brings up the fact he gets plenty of hate mail from the right as well as the left.)

user-pic

I guess part of my point is that Joe has gone off the reservation before because he is not a lock-step, i'm-a-repub-and-damn-the-truth kind of conservative.

And it never hurts to expose oneself once and a while to those who don't exactly see politics the same way and have some basic reasoning as to why they see it the way that they do.

Jughead is about 10% correct about 10%. But do not worry, the other 90% of the time time he is, well he is just Jughead talking about our new ride toward socialism, how America is going to hell in a handbasket, how he and newt saved America....

Ha Ha Ha. But when he is right. Hard to disagree.

An awful lot of repubs and 'conservatives' are lining up with the Prez on this thing including George Will who is usually 2% right most of the time. ha

I have been wondering if McCain and Shelby are just that dumb, or if they have ulterior motives.

Given the recent hand-wringing over a kinder, gentler, less-bombable Iran, are they saying these things to win political points and try to goad Obama into saying something that will undermine the protesters? Or do they really have that poor of an understanding of the situation? Perhaps, they believe the drivel in some neo-con white-paper.

I keep hearing Shelby's statement about the U.S. president being the leader of the free world. And i have to wonder if they are just that simple-minded.

If America has ever lead, it has lead by example, and i don't think it's been leading anyone for the last 8 years.

user-pic

I have been wondering if McCain and Shelby are just that dumb, or if they have ulterior motives.

Yes.

user-pic

I am in the camp of ulterior motives when it comes to Mccain and Graham..Shelby is a typical 'southern dumb ole boy'... As to Joe..I do not watch him...but he is right to call the 'boys' on their undermining behavior! This is not a time to tow the partyline by the repub's...Iran is in crisis because of the Govrn't and the selected leaders..Death and violence and beatings are not something to play partisen politics with..Note Obama reminded his critics that as PRESIDENT he would see to his duty...and they should stick to theirs!

user-pic

Is Lindsey Graham gay? There's nothing wrong with being gay, I just despise hypocrites.

user-pic

I have so little time here these days...I scan the post titles and read what I can quickly before heading out...Joe saying something correct for a change certainly caught my attention. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Probably won't mean anything, but the idea that SOMEONE on the right had momentary balls enough to call these guys out got my day off to a good start.

user-pic

Yeah, and El Rusbo Grande is breaking the seal on a new Truck Nutz trophy case as we speak...

Looks like McCain did it again this morning on C-Span's Washington Journal as he continued go after President Obama for his measured reaction to the crisis in Iran.

Meanwhile Monday night, Time Magazine's Joe Klein applauded the president for his approach urged McCain to stop talking.

"Be quiet," said Klein. "You don't need to do this. You know? You know what you're doing is a self-indulgent at this point. Sen. McCain, if he's going to talk about this, should also talk about the fact that the United States supported Saddam Hussein in the Iran/Iraq war for eight years. Every one of those protesters out in the streets, every last one of them believes the United States supplied Saddam Hussein with the poison gas that has debilitated tens of thousands of Iranian men."

Sam Stein, HP; McCain Hits Obama On Iran Again, Joe Klein Tells Him "Be Quiet

Meanwhile I didn't watch Joe this morning. When my wife heard his voice she made me change the channel. Woman's got class.

user-pic

Hope you saw John Hodgman's gig the other night. His bit on nerds, geeks and jocks was hilarious. Joe Scarborough is definitely a "jock". Not nearly enough people have said "no, Joe you are wrong" in his life.

user-pic

Even a blind squirrel can stumble across a nut now and again.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Take your pick, and read no more into Joke Scarborough than that.

Your brain cells will thank you.

user-pic

this is so lame i wont even address it.

sheesh.

and i had such high hopes..................

user-pic

Every once in a while I agree with JS. This is one of those moments. What bothers me are the emails he received that were so bad, the FBI were givien them.
The citizens of this country who consider themselves Republicans and who send vile e-mails when somebody makes a statement that contradicts their own beliefs are very narrow minded. First Smith, now Scarborough.
If you do not agree with theim hook line and sinker, they are ready to threaten and harass.
They are not capable of seeing that not everything the GOP stand for is correct. Nope, not at all,and it is frightening.

user-pic

The Mayor of the Redneck Rivera is trying so hard to get back into the mainstream and disassociate himself from the current incompetent Republican party (that he helped create). But if you watch him over a period of time (2 or 3 days), he inevitably says something idiotic that lets you know, he’s still the same old dog with the same bone-head ideological thinking. Zbig had it exactly right, when he told him to his face, “You are stunningly superficial”.

We all know who Scarborough is! It’s Zbig’s daughter that I have problems with. Mika Brizinski has turned into the biggest yes man, since Juan Williams joined FOX. I can’t stand self-professed Democrats that bend over backwards to show how fair they are, just because they are on TV!

user-pic

So agree, GTFOOH...

user-pic

How can they let McCain get away with saying ANYTHING about Iran's "brave citizens," when he joked about BOMB, BOMB, BOMB, BOMB, BOMB, BOMBing them? He should be publically called out for that! You can bet Obama would if he had been dumb enough to joke about something like that!

user-pic

Scarborough is a caveman, but sometimes he says something intelligent. This was one of those moments, albeit rare.

Good post, but the best part is the Jack Buck quote. I was in the car listening to Jack on the radio when it happened and it was one of the most phenomenal, charged moments of sports I ever heard. Jack Buch was not easily impressed and had been calling baseball games for numerous decades when Gibson hit that ball. But when it left the park, Jack was so stunned that all he could do is repeat the same phrase over and over: "I can't believe what I just saw!" A fantastic moment. Thanks for reminding me of it.

user-pic

Watched it live with wife in LA. She was doing her typical, it's over routine. When the ball left the park she let off a continuous screem like an air-raid siren. Didn't stop till he crossed the plate.

Funny thing Fox Sports has a special on the home-run...they ran it last night.
