A Picture Worth Two-Million Words
An amazing bit of technology was used to capture a most amazing event. Gigapan has an unbelievable photograph of President Barack Obama's
Inaugural Address.
It was taken by David Bergman using a 1,474 megapixel.robotic camera (295 times the standard 5 megapixel camera). It consists of 200 individual shots. You can pan and zoom around the picture like a satellite map.
Check out Dick Cheney looking like the Scrooge-esque banker, Mr. Potter in "It's a Wonderful Life." Is Justice Clarance Thomas sleeping? Find Yo-Yo Ma taking a picture with his iPhone. See any friends in the crowd?
Have patience, a zoom may take a second to focus.
Enjoy.

Really great picture Steve. It is just amazing to me how Quinn and Bwakfat and others just grab all sorts of different media to make a point and it ends up as one red word!!!

Good stuff, thanks Steve.
The blending of images looks pretty precise, but it did create a few interesting images. Check out the wig on the lady sitting behind Rahm. About the 12th row directly behind the Prez.

There's a guy behind Thomas who's head isn't on straight. Three out of 2 million, so far, ain't bad. I love looking at the crowd's faces. It's like being there. Be cool if the site played his speech while you pan and zoom.

Thanks Steve.

He's sitting cross-legged on the ground between the official camera tower in the center of the crowd, and the white sound-booth tent directly behind it.

The shame of it is is there are about 2 million people wearing ski masks in that pic. That might be someone I know way in the back but I can't tell.

Remarkable photograph Steve. Zoom in on Laura Bush, pan up about 3-4 rows at 10 O'clock from Laura. There's an interesting digital 'anomaly' on the guy's head(s).

Looks like it's Blagojevich's hair. Or, that's no 'anomaly,' that's his wife.

Not sexism but an exorcism caught on a microchip.

You could see tents setup on the roofs of the building that make up the left border of the mall.

I'm changing my thought on Dick Cheney, in closeup the hat makes him appear more like, Judge Doom in "Roger Rabbit." Pass "The Dip."
