Typically ignorant comment from a typical foul mouthed ignorant liberal. No one advocated eliminating medical research funding, the debate is about a government takeover of the medical insurance system and the control over health care delivery and availability that would give them.

The more breathlessly contumacious of the anti-HCR commentators have explicitly suggested that government should not be involved in any way.
Their suggestions are largely born of ignorance, but you can't honestly say that government funding hasn't been elided with "government takeover."
