Meghan McCain Supporting Gay Rights- Where Are The Rest of Us?.
It's a pretty bad state of affairs when John McCain's daughter is in the news supporting Gay Rights and there is barely a peep about the cause from TPM bloggers. Why no interest in such an important and momentous cause on a progressive blog?

I'm pretty sure TPM bloggers have been on the Gay Rights Movement train long before Meghan McCain had the guts to do these interviews.
While the gay community will need all the endorsements it can get, I can't honestly give a pat on the back to Ms. McCain. It just looks like a : Everyone's Doin'It So Should the GOP - campaign to me.
That's just my impression.

I think she means well in this instance and deserves credit. The problem is that while it is obvious her party's establishment has no intention to give into her sentiments, she will continue to choose to support Republicans over more sensible options.

McCain aside, I'm saying that posts about Gay Rights are quite rare at TPM. Perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps I'll see more.

I can't see the GOP ever accepting the notion of "gay rights". That would be antithetical to the religious-right, alienating the core of the Republican base.
The only future I can see for conservatism is via some form of libertarianism. Libertarianism could hold together wealthy and economic conservatives, Regan anti-government conservatives, and traditional non-interventionist foreign policy conservatives, but could lose the neocons, and certainly the social conservatives. Whether a libertarian movement could then bring about a sufficiently large re-alignment of moderates and liberals primarily concerned with civil liberties remains a key question.
